Hey folks...

does anybody know where one could buy a 1:1 raptor ?

I've looked all over the web and haven't had any luck.

I'm looking at getting a JP version kinda like this...

any help would be highly appreciated

After 15 years the movie was released. Even SS got the license for JP. Nope. Nothing for 1/1 JP dino replica.

Your best bet is to commission one.

I too been waiting and searching for too long. It's a shame that SS didn't bring something BIG to us after they got the license. What a waste.

Well, real Velociraptors were slightly larger than small turkeys, so I wager a 1:1 replica of that wouldn't be hard to find.

A JP-style Velociraptor is a bit different, though, isn't it? Try Studio Oxmox. There you will find a 1:1 replica of a Deinonychus, which is pretty darn close.

The oxmox versions are awesome, but they are different(very different for me) from the JP version if you don't care about the JP look then oxmox is certainly a great choice.

One of my former professors owns the oxmox v2, and I can say from having seen it in person, as well as having seen an original SWS animatronic Velociraptor in person (albeit not in one piece), that a buyer would not be disappointed in the least.

The v1 has a skull structure that is alarmingly similar to the Velociraptors done for JPIII, having the additional dual ridges along the naris, which is actually more accurate to many type specimen skulls.

While the JPIII Velociraptor is not my favorite design in terms of coloration and the rudimentary mohawk, the skull design was good. As you can see, the v1 design is something of a hybrid between these two above-listed designs, being the JPIII male Velociraptor and the female Velociraptors from JP.

The v2 is quite similar to the females Velociraptors done for TLW, and is indeed what the design coloration was based largely upon. When I have access to my computer again, I'll be able to provide a better picture of the TLW female. The hard drive crash that occurred last week has been most inconveniencing.

The most noteworthy design difference is the decreased bulk and claw size when compared to the JP Velociraptors, in terms of overall body. The size is also different, but only when compared to the Velociraptors in JP which were the size of Utahraptors while the Velociraptors in TLW and JPIII were the size of Deinonychus. Anyhoo, it's something to consider.

That sure would be an impressive item to have in your home. Gruson at one point had a really nice JP Tyrannosaurus head in his collectin. It of course wasn't 1:1, but I think made from a prop or maquette used for the film.

yeah, and FelMar has also has the same very impressive T Rex bust! this would be awesome Fel Mar, if you get it, do let us know how it is and show us some pics - this could be something for me to consider down the road.

this would b hella sick 2 have, but could u imagine the shipping rates from australia :horror

thanks for the info guys...

I'm sure these babies are worth a lovely penny...but man, they're sweet!

The raptors in JP were actually Utah Raptors. I guess they figured "Veloco" sounded cooler than "Utah" :lol

The Utahraptor wasn't fully unearthed until later in 1994, with the initial excavation in 1993. When they found it, Bakker said, "Wow, we actually found the Jurassic Park raptor!" He was quite thrilled that the find added a level of credibility to the movie; Bakker likes JP quite a bit and was a consultant for the first movie. He was glad this new raptor leviathan could bolster the film. Also recommend "Raptor Red" if you've never read it. Excellent book!

No problem. JP and dinosaurs are long-time hobbies and obsessions. Always glad to be of help!

I don't think you can actually buy many of the things in their gallery, though. They were commissioned by the movie or game companies for promotional purposes.

You definitely can purchase their dinosaur-themed items. They advertise in Prehistoric Times every other month with list prices, and I know personally of several people who bought from them... though things like the life-size T.rex head are not cheap...:monkey4

The raptor from JP was actually based off of the Utah Raptor, a huge predator closely related to the Vraptor. And by huge, I mean man-sized, huge for the time it existed and in comparison to other raptors.

Yeah, those aren't licensed. But I doubt that you can buy a Snake or Big Daddy, for example.
