I know the Star Wars line has both the vs. peices and the small scaled dios but are the envioramas just for Star Wars or will we be seeing them for LOTR also?

I would LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE a 1:6 walls of Moria Enviorama (not the whole dang thing, but just the area with the door).

I'd like some envioramas as well the Fellowship cresting the hill would be my #1 top.

Danbury Mint made a pretty sweet Barad-Dur and Minis Tirith, wish they would make orthac and minis morgul and continue down the line. Emailed them, and they said it probably wouldn't happen.

Danbury Mint's Environments were awesome...the light-up features were a bit gimicky, but they had excellent sculpt work. I was under the impression that they sold pretty well...wonder why they would not continue with a Hobbiton, Rivendell, Orthanc, or Minas Morgul...even Osgiliath would have been cool!

Oh well...wishful thinking!

Yea, they were awesome. I'm going to email them again and see if I get a different answer.

I believe Danbury was allowed to do the Minas Tirith and Barad Dur because they were light-up statues. They're not allowed to make statues like that without the light-up feature, as SS already has that license. I think that's why they won't make any others, unless maybe they add a light-up feature to future works. Anyone knows the details about it? Am I correct?

I think you are right...but they could easily add light-up features to Minas Morgul and Rivendell...Hobbiton...probably not...

I'm a big fan of the Danbury Mint's two environments as well.

They can put a LED "campfire" in any piece, if they needed to. That would be fine by me.

An Orthanc would be awesome. Include parts of the underground Uruk-hai breeding pits on the base and have it lit up in orange-red. That would be fantastic.

The environment line has so much potential. It's a shame that it wasn't continued by either SS/Weta or Danbury Mint... :monkey2

I had put my hopes on the diorama's, but so far I'm not impressed. Although the Aragorn on the walls of Helm's Deep was a great diorama, the expression on Aragorns face was a total miss in my opinion. The first diorama with Frodo and Gollum was just way too tiny to make any impression. Funnily, Frodo's likeness was the best they pulled of so far, even though it was their smallest figure of Frodo up to date.

It would be VERY simple to add an LED light-up to Minis Morgul, and that would be amazing. As to the point that SS has the license, I'm sure that Tolkien Estate can give out more than one license for a product, if they like it and it gives it justice. I sent an email to DB, but no responce so far.

That Gates of Moria carved out of stone was incredible. Wish I could do that

Thanks for the compliment. It was a couple of hours work, but the sculpture looks even better in real life than it does on the picture. I put it in my cabinet, in between the Watcher in the Water and the Mines of Moria environment.
