Could not find the original thread.

Is anyone back into or playing this for the first time since it is now F2P?

I'm back playing it and having fun again.

If you are what server you on? Wanted something to tide me over until TOR comes out and this was always enjoyable to me.

Is this game any good? Pros, cons?

It's got by far the best game world of any MMO I've ever played. It's also very solo-friendly. There's little touches here and there that are awesome for lore geeks.

I really miss playing it, honestly. I just don't have the time to devote to MMOs anymore. I played WoW longer than I did LOTRO, but I liked LOTRO a whole lot more.

i started back not too long ago as well as f2p then ended up resubscribing. i think it is friggin' awesome. and what crow said...one of the better mmo out there imo. skirmish features are awesome as well. between quests and skirmishes (little mini-instances where you kill a bunch of bad guys) soloing to level cap is a lot easier and still fun. players in general seem a little more chill than some other mmo(s).

can you find groups nowdays? I played a healer since day 1 and maxed out i think in a month or so. It got to a point where it's impossible to find groups because not enough tanks/healers. And the raids got boring fast.

It was a fun game even as a wow clone while it lasted though. Quit right around the time housing was introduced. Blow all my money and decorated myself a nice house (think it was hobbit style), then deleted my character while inside and never looked back.

love this game, it whoops all over wow and every other mmo, plus its based in middle earth who wouldnt want to play it

I'm still going strong in LOTRO, got 3 lvl75's and working on the 4th. Kin has fully cleared the new Orthanc raid on T1 a few times, so I've got the deed done on two of my characters.

Looking forward to Update 6 and the new region, with luck Rohan will rock and the 'new' Turbine with faster bug fixes, more communication and on-going content will be just as much action as talk.

I've always kind of debated getting into it. Right now I'm in SWTOR so there's no way I'm playing 2 MMOs but later I may try it.

Reading that the world is very alive and there's great atmosphere is a big point for me.
I'm also curious in how the craft/tradeskills work? In wow I always though it was too simple and not involved enough. For me the best system was Vanguard.

Most people complain that LOTRO's crafting system is too complex and time consuming.... so I guess make of that what you will.

Just make a character and go slow at it. It's casual friendly. (i think you may be surprised and LOVE it) Hate to say it but the world/atmosphere is better than SWTOR IMO. Immersion is killer in this game.

Also the community in this game is top tier!

You don't have to say it since I kind of agree.
I'm having a great time with SWTOR, the voice acting and class quests are truly amazing.

But the world immersion isn't top notch. the only planet so far for me (I'm 36) that 'feels' like a planet is Tatooine, the others are too enclosed.

And in WoW I would love to explore, discover the map, I would see thing from WC3 or from the books
but for some reason in TOR I don't get this at all.

The crafting sounds interesting :)

This is my biggest problem with SWTOR. And i am disappointed with it. I love the SW universe and loved exploring in SW galaxies. Everything feels on rails here. I still like SWTOR but they just got the immersion wrong. Plus no day and night cycles WTH! Still a great story game, but it seems other parts were neglected for it!

LOTRO is a very unique game, very well done, and very underrated!

:peace

Yeah they weren't far off when they said it would be KotOR 3-8, I'm really liking the class quest and one class quest does feel as big as a single KotOR game but yeah it's sort of a Solo game with a few other people.
I mean I'm 36 and I've barely seen a Republic scum anywhere.

But anyway that's :offtopic:
