I'll be in LA next month and i found these local retailers. I'd appreciate it if you guys could give some feedback about these shops.

2. Toy Art Gallery

3. Golden Apple

4. Things from another world

5. DJ's Universal Comics

I'm looking for Hot Toys figures (Ironman, KING LEONIDAS, etc.) and some sideshow premium format figs (sabertooth, wolverine, etc.) Would you know if these shops carry these items and which ones would you recommend for me? Thanks in advance!

well I know Things from anther world and I could that the back HT that you looking for, are no there, and besides the prices are high (not killer but high) maybe you can look on the "corner store" there the prices are more easy to pay and has better inventary.

All of those stores you listed above have very little to no Hot Toys. Things from another world has some stuff but they are overpriced due to it's tourist location right outside of Universal Studios. DJ's Universal comics is a good place, but Hot Toys are only by pre-order with them. That means you won't find anything on the shelves.

Here are my recommendations:

halo 13 here in Burbank. Great prices and nice people. This is where I buy most of my Hot Toys and Sideshow figures.

Blast From the Past here in Burbank as well. I only go to see stuff because the owner is a freaking scalper/a-hole and his prices are high. But you may find a deal.

And finally, Frank & Son Collectibles show. This place is like a mini ComicCon. Completely worth the visit just for the size of the place and the variety of collectibles they have. There's at least 5 shops/booths there that carry Hot Toys.

Alright, Good Luck and have fun!

Echobase Toys should also be included on the "must see" list... east of the city, but worth the drive.

Thanks guys. Yeah i've been hearing a lot about Frank and Sons, maybe i'll visit it. Halo 13 seems like a nice place too.

Thanks for the help fellow collectors!

By the way @Commtech thanks, i really found your reply very helpful (not that the others weren't) Anyway, would you know how long (driving) it would take to get from LAX to Frank and Sons?

kinda far you just take the 101 to the 605 north to the 60 east and get off on one of the streets franks is between. [cant remember at the momment]

You are looking at 45 minutes to an hour drive from LAX. The street to get off is on Nogales. Make a left on Nogales crossing the 60 freeway from above. After a couple of lights, make a right on San Jose. Drive about 1/4 mile and it'll be on your left side, you can't miss it.

Echobase toys has a booth at Frank and Sons they're store is not worth the drive. All the figures they have are overpriced in the store, the curio's are caked with dust and good luck trying to find parts if you ask them, they're response is do you know exactly what part your looking for? As if you know what they have in they're bins before you get there. Your better off just going they're booth or just dealing with them online. Commtech gave you the most accurate description of what's around the area.

I would call any store before heading there. I've been to some that have overpriced items. Not worth buying from.

I shop at "Blast from the Past" in Burbank. They have great prices. Not sure what items Larry has available right now but you could call him. His website is blastfromthepast.tv

Hope you enjoy your visit. :wave

Thanks for the help guys. This is more than i expected. You've all been really helpful. Thanks!
Looking forward to my San Diego / LA trip!

I need to check out Halo 13.
Never knew they were there.

Thanks for the heads up Commtech.

Stopped y Halo 13 today. Their prices are high. Asked about the Christopher Reeve Superman and The original Thor. They want $300 for each.

They had the Bat Pod on this display. Impressive. :)

Absolutely agree. Halo 13's price are high. Come on, $300 for Superman? Blast from the Past has better prices for sure. Don't know Echobase...will have to investigate. :)

Are there any stores in LA that will do Sideshow statue preorders? I usually preorder from CornerstoreComics in anaheim to save on shipping but I don't think they are going to have any stock for the Mark 42 maquette so I thought I'd check to see if there were any other Socal options for online preorders. Any info is much appreciated!

I agree with the recommendation on Blast From the Past, I have bought quite a few HT and SSC figures there.

I personally do not love Frank and Sons (it is more of a ghetto mini- comic con vibe) but while you are in the area you might want to check out:

Legends Toys & Hobbies
17421-B East Gale Ave.
City of Industry, CA91748
U.S.A.
https://legendshobbies.com

they are at SDCC each year and nice guys. check the site for what they have in stock, not so much HT but lots of other good 1/6th stuff.
