Some pictures on progress so far, i know the top shelf is completely messed up and looks like crap with unrelated pieces, i just took whatever was laying around that fits and put it there.

Macy furniture really screwed me over, waited 2 months for a 3 week delivery and had to cancel the order and pick a random curio off amazon that is MUCH SMALLER for next day delivery because all the people/kids coming for thanksgiving noway i can leave this stuff all over the place...

I planned to setup the battle scene using the 3 riders charging against the sauron vs soliders with the gollum PF in the middle and rivendell off to the side. But with this tiny thing i can barely fit 2 riders on 1 level....

What a mess! not sure what i am going to do this thing barely fits 1/5 of my collection, nevermind all my star wars pieces and optimus prime. Will either get a second curio or throw this away and buy a much bigger 1 piece curio after the holidays.. ,,!,, macy furniture!

I think it looks like a very classy display case, congrats the lotr stuff looks great in it.

That's what she said. :lol

Nah, it looks good. You should be able to get a few of the statues in that and if priced right can get a couple more.

Looks great!

Is that glass strong enough to hold that weight? :horror

It's only 27"wide x 17" deep, the dimension on amazon stated 32"x20" but that turns out to be exterior dimension.

Funny in you ask about the glass shelves, i special ordered them on the web, 3/8" thick tempered glass which can hold well over 100lbs per shelf at this length. No way i would place all those statues on the included glass shelves that can only support 25lb of weight.

Cool! Just curious because I don't think any stock glass shelves are made to hold our collectibles. :lol

yeah it's really a shame, i wasted a lot of time searching for a good curio.

Need a 50"+ wide, 20"+ deep with strong shelves, light on each shelf, and sliding door that's dust resistant. Almost impossible to find even if you go up to the $2000 range. Most are only 15" deep and with those paper thin shelves.

Man I love that cabinet. You're welcome to send it to me when you don't need it anymore.

Ramsdell curio

I have been thinking about getting this but shipping is what's holding me back since I live in Sweden. I asked about the weight the shelves can take and the answer I got was this:

"I dont believe there is an actual spec on how much weight it will hold but its not a matter of the glass breaking - its more a matter of how much the shelf clips can hold. I would be reasonable and say probably around 50 or so lbs but it would be better suited for an individual to use their best judgement based on the size and what it is thats being place in there."

There are a few other same sized curios as well, if you don't like this particular one. :)

ha! funny you mention howard miller, it was the only other curio i found that came close to what I wanted. Unfortunately amazon didnt have next day shipping for this and I couldnt wait.

I actually emailed the manufacturer for some spec as plan to eventually replace it with one of those. Below is the response, the depth is disappointing. Also there is no way those glass shelves will hold the weigh of the statues, they are designed to hold grandma's plates not 10-20lb each statues, especially considering the only support are on the sides. You need to order custom tempered glass shelves at least 1/2" thick, for a 50" wide shelf with only side support.

It's a very high quality curio though, just need to replace the shelves.

Hi, I show the glass shelf depth is 17.25, thickness is .312 or 5/16" , the shelves are fully adjustable but we normally recommend no more than 25 lbs. per shelf, thanks Jim.
