I just pick this Luke Skywalker sculpt and I going to be using it for a dark jedi luke I am working on. My first challenge is going to be painting the sculpt.
What do you guys think of the sculpt? any advise on painting? I'm going to follow this tutorial I found on rebel scum https://www.rebelscum.com/tonyhow1.asp which it doesn't look to challenging. Ill post updates of my progress, but Im probably not going to get started until mid week.

I need to take better pictures. You really can't see all the detail Les put into it in that photo.

drod26 - You do know that's a recast of the Hasbro Luke sculpt. It's been around for years. It's still a great likeness even after all of these years!

I too was inspired by Tony Diterlizzi's page many years ago and wanted to make all of my Hasbro figures look like his. I think with all of the new stuff that's out there from Sideshow & Hot Toys, it's a whole new ball game now, but it was still very rewarding back in the day to re-do the Hasbro stuff. Alot of us started out with the Hasbro stuff.

Here's some of my own old Hasbro reworks:

Josh,

Thanks Josh, with your magic brush and talent yours its going to kick some butt man.. If my paint job turns horrible, ill sent it over to you.. hahaha

calling all painters.. can you guys help me finish him off? I can not get the correct tone color on his face. I have been using a raw sienna, burnt sienna, flesh tone, light portrait pink but still no luck. :monkey2
This is what I currently have. This is my first paint attend ever and its not easy, but I do enjoy the process.

I have also put a copy of a picture for reference on how I would like him to turn out which I got from the side. Its a great color referance picture and I thank the owner.

After so many hours of mixing colors and blending.. here he is.. he doesnt look too evil, but this is my first paint job ever.. What you think? Where can I improve on?
Next Ill move to the outfit...

A little less rouge in the cheeks, and some darker tones round the eyes and it would be great, atm its simply good

Edit plus a drybrush of darker brown on the hair

Thanks Mooncat.. Ill try to tone the cheeks and darken the eyes. Yes the hair needs some touch up too...

do you thin out the paint? I think thinning it out a bit more might help.

yeah i thin out the paint...

what color mix do you think I should use to rouge out the cheeks?

I would add a thin line of burnt umber outlining the top of his eyes and a thin line of light pink under them.

But I agree, he looks like his regular old self. Though, so does Darth Vader for 90% of ROTS.
