Re: The Man of Steel

After thinking about everything that has happened in this version of Superman, I really would not want to be him.

Re: The Man of Steel

Imagine if The Wolverine ends up being loved by critics and fans this summer.

The Wolverine final RT score 90%. :lol

Fox would be doing the happy dance.

I bet Singer is laughing his *** off right about now at the MOS response. :lol

Re: The Man of Steel

I think this film will get past $800 million worldwide. With 3D and the mass marketing campaign I can't see it doing less than that

It also seems the critics have it it wrong based on average fan response

Lets see

New Batman in Justice League Movie, Says David S. Goyer

Writer confirms that Nolan's Batman exists in a different universe to Man of Steel.

by Daniel Krupa

Man of Steel writer David S. Goyer has confirmed that Christopher Nolan's Batman movies take place in a different universe, so any potential Justice League movie would feature an entirely new Batman.

"It would be disingenuous to say Warner Bros doesn’t hope that this would be the starting point for a shared universe," revealed Goyer in an interview with Hey U Guys. "And Zack has said that Bruce Wayne exists in this universe. It would be a different Bruce Wayne from Chris’ [Nolan] Dark Knight trilogy, and it would be disingenuous to say that Zack and I haven’t had various conversations on set, around ‘what if’ and ‘moving forward’."

It's also worth noting that Goyer worked on the scripts of each instalment in Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy. And effectively nixes the rumour that Christian Bale would be donning the cowl and cape in a future JLA movie.

The future of the DC Universe on film all seems to be riding on the box office of Man of Steel: "That having been said, it’s all going to depend on the next few weeks. Warner Bros has hopes that there will be more Man Of Steel films, and that this will be the beginning of a shared universe. We could meet Batman, or Wonder Woman, or the Justice League in these movies. But they all hinge on box office reception."

And if Man of Steel proves to be a box office success, Goyer seems more than keen to stay working within the DC Universe: "If that happens, I would be happy, and nervous, to dive in." But he went on to add that whatever comes next in the DC Universe it would be working from a "blank slate".

"They’re hoping that the film does well, but god forbid it doesn’t, things will change," hopes Goyer. "I don’t know how many different iterations of Justice League they’ve tried to mount over the last decade or so. But for one reason or another they haven’t happened. I think Warner Bros has seen – and Chris deserves the biggest credit for this – that we were able to revitalise Batman and put it into the first billion dollar superhero film.

And they’re hoping that Superman will be revistalised as well. And if we can do Batman and Superman, then maybe we can move on to Wonder Woman, and The Flash, and characters like that."

Re: The Man of Steel

Yeah, after seeing this movie, nothing from the Nolan-verse Batman would've seemed right with the MoS world. I actually love how there wasn't much focus on Clark Kent/Reporter and am actually now interested how they explore that in the sequels.

Movie definitely felt like its gonna part of moe thing bigger and is in for the long haul.

Re: The Man of Steel

Surprised MOS and DK are not taking place in the same universe.
MOS would happens after DKR and that be fine.
Well we'll see but since i dont really care for JLA for now its ok.

I do not want the Bale Batman in this universe. I am someone who loved that Bruce walked away from it all. I love that Nolan gave his story an ending. Is it like the comics? No, Bruce would never leave the war. But I like that. Cast a new Batman, and let the Nolanverse remain an Elseworlds tale.

Re: The Man of Steel

I just have to say this is one of the greatest comic book movies ever. Zach and everyone captured what a Superman movie should be. Taking little bits of everything from all things Superman. I do not get how some could leave that movie not having enjoyed themselves? I would have to say they are just miserable people and should just stop seeing movies because i dont know what else you could want in a Superman movie. Henry was Superman, Shannon was Zod, Crowe was JorEl, Faora was awesome, Amy was an awesome Lois. She really captured the spirit of who she was from all the old comics to present. Costner and Diane Lane were great as his parents.

Everything we love about Superman was in this film. I just dont see how anyone could not enjoy it even just as a casual movie goer. You shouldnt have to be fan of the comics to like it.

Is it just people like to complain and be overly critical about everything just for the sake of being critical? idk???

people who couldnt enjoy themselves for a movie experience, i just think you should stop going to movies, especially comic book movies. MoS delivered this perfectly. Zach and everyone involved did an amazing job!!!

Yeah, I can see it doing more than that, but I found it a little shocking that it will need to make more than that to be considered a success.

Re: The Man of Steel

Just look at the marketing campaign, it's not all that surprising to me.

If it makes $800 mil, the studios get about $400, the theaters get the rest.

$200+ was just the production budget. Another $200 or so in marketing quite easily.

So $800 is just 'breaking even' roughly. Of course when you count merchandising etc, then they would probably be turning a profit at a point quite a bit lower than $800 mil

The last figure I heard (excluding marketing) was $250, and apparently there was another big spend on the extra year of FX work (originally this was supposed to be out last year). So I would imagine that those figures as crazy as they are are conservative..

Re: The Man of Steel

Let's not forget the $ is not worth what it used to be as well.

These kind of figures 10 yrs ago would have been far more surprising

Re: The Man of Steel

This was a great movie! No its not the greatest comic book movie ever made, but it is easily in the Top 5. This is the first time I have watched Superman on film and really felt power.

8/10

Bring on the sequel! "Man of Tomorrow" or "Last Son of Krypton" spring to mind!

Just watched it. Very good start I thought. I didn't come out thinking best superhero film ever, but definately going to buy on Bluray and see a few more times.

I give it 4/5.

Re: The Man of Steel

9/10 easy. This movie over exceeded my expectations with all the critics being.. well critics.

Re: The Man of Steel

You seem out to get Avengers or something? lol
When that movie is undeniably considered one of the best comic movie of all time, and now you seem to bash it lol

why can't ALL these movies be good comic movies? :monkey3

oh no cat fight. :lol
