Re: The Man of Steel

But you're at least happy that it made you feel something, right?

so... is this green latnern bad

X-men Origins Bad?

or Bayformers Bad?

It is better then those films.

Those films are just bad because the filmmaking was bad along with the story... MoS was well made... It just had poor character development and story IMO.

Re: The Man of Steel

I'm pretty sure Metropolis' economy is going to go down the toilet after this :lol

Not if Lex Luthor comes in and starts rebuilding the city as the city of Tomorrow and puts people to work all the while accusing the alien God of being a murderer.

Re: The Man of Steel

Alot of great points, pros/cons have been posted so I won't repeat them. The bottom line is I really enjoyed it. If you love superhero movies, and if you were disappointed after seeing IM3 for lack of action scenes similar to the Avengers, this one will quench your thirst. I will probably watch it again on 3d next time.:)

One of my issues with the action scene was the lack of a "Wow" Moment. Sure there was lots of destruction but It just never had that one.. "wow that was cool" Avengers had that many times, TDK films had it, IM, and Thor had them... Superman had moment I should have felt "Oh wow" But I didn't.. It's why I think it was the lack of great characters... It does not help that I felt like I had seen much of it before, Giant Alien Ships, Alien Battle in city (Avengers), Super beings flying and punching each other (Avengers , Matrix 3), I did smile at the female villain putting on her video game moves on the soldiers - That was a good wow moment.. But Superman never had those.

Oh well..... Perhaps it will connect with me better when I see it again on Blu ray.

Re: The Man of Steel

I wonder if they'll build upon
Superman killing Zod. It seemed the only way to stop him in this story, so it was a case of "I did what I had to". I just wonder if they'll take that and start building Supes', "no killing" policy.

Re: The Man of Steel

2 building collapsed in 2001 and the aftereffects continued for a very long time with the govt getting more involved and bringing in new measures that changed America,
will they build on metropolis destruction the same way or just go on in the sequels as nothing happened?

I hope they build on that too. The entire theatre was shocked when he did it. I think a good writer could really build on that moment, and how it shapes him going forward. I love that he reacts to what he's done, and doesn't just shrug it off.
I also like to think of it as him mourning not so much Zod, but at the fact that because of his actions he is effectively the last of his kind.(as far as he know)

Man I really enjoyed this film!

That was awesome! :rock

Nice to see Supes breaking away from that boy scout image. But then, he has just begun, it sure could be the building up of the no killing policy.

Yeah, he basically ensured the end of his race. Though the codex is still inside of him. That may play into it later.

Also, maybe a bit over the top, but I loved the imagery of Superman standing amongst the skulls, with Zod's line: "A foundation has to be built on something" That moment gave me chills.

I thought the same thing. He flew way too fast to enjoy it. There was that first moment, but it ends too quickly then he's zipping around everywhere so fast I was like, ok. For the sequel Snyder needs to get rid of Zimmer. Please, please, please get someone else to do the music. Man of Steel had no theme at all, what was with all the drums? I understand there's a lot of action in the movie, but there are far more instruments than drums. If Zimmer can't deliver something better then get someone like Brian Tyler of Mike Giacchino. Either one would give Superman the proper music that he deserves.

See, but that's apart of the characters essence. It needs to develop, I know, but I hope it's not something they're abandoning in their "update".

Re: The Man of Steel

Saw this last night at 7:00. I'm not a huge Superman fan and am not as versed with his mythology as much as I probably should be but I really enjoyed this move. I'm not saying anything that probably hasn't been said before but I thought the action was great and the performances by the cast were really good for the most part, Costner and Crowe especially and I really dug Cavill as the Man of Steel.

Re: The Man of Steel

Basketball texture and stripe down the leg on costume -

Haters - ?

This made me lol. In fairness, Superman's classic look has been struggling to find an update in the movies for years anyway whereas Spidey's new look in AS deviated a little too far from a very well realized costume just a few years prior. Judging by the AS2 pics though, I don't think there's going to be a repeat of that criticism on Spidey.
