Re: The Man of Steel

No. He worked blue collar odd jobs. It really is like that in many areas.

As for the Daily Planet, that one is pretty obvious: Lois got him the gig.

I wonder if Superman has a Tax ID Social Security number

I guess he worked under the table the whole time on those jobs and didn't have to pay any taxes

You right they should've shown at least one of the interviews :slap:lol

Re: The Man of Steel

I saw it last night and I loved it.
I don't care what the RT score is and I respect, but disagree, with the negative opinions I've read in here. I enjoyed the hell out of this film. Very satisfied.

Re: The Man of Steel

Cumonass was one of the most entertaining people to watch a few years back. He's bat**** insane and hideous to watch.

But man, does he make you laugh. :lol

Re: The Man of Steel

The only piece of advice i'd give to Zack, and I doubt you'd tell him this, let alone show him this....

But just make the characters stand out more. Give them some life.

I really hate to compare the Donner films with this movie, but look how charming, and charismatic Superman is in that film. You root for him. You like watching him. Simply rooting for someone out of empathy isn't enough. Give him a stand out personality.

Excellent point. I felt that they were trying to convey that Clark is Superman, and not the other way around. But I found that I didn't really get a sense of who Clark really was. There were parts such as the first flight scene, or that excellent closing exchange with Lois at the Daily Planet where you do start to see his charm coming through.

For me the big payoff was the flight scene. Here is a guy who up to that point didn't know didn't know who he was or where he fit in the world. All his life he had to hide his gifts for fear of being persecuted. And now he had his answers and a sense of purpose. Flying was a cathartic moment for him. I thought that Cavill really showed that well in that scene.

Re: The Man of Steel

I'm glad to see that generally people are liking this even if its not the greatest thing since sliced bread. Not every movie has to be "the best ever" to be enjoyable.

Re: The Man of Steel

So was anyone else as excited as I was to hear some classic Chris Cornell in the film?

Re: The Man of Steels

You're not going to get an argument out of me here. Reason? Because that's the fundamental difference between the two. The Avengers stop at nothing to defeat the bad guys. If people die then so be it (they're the "Avengers," a point Stark makes clear to Loki). Superman doesn't (or at least didn't) accept that option. There was either always another way or he took every single death personally. I didn't get that here, but that may have been what they were shooting for. :huh

This is superman year one. Hes not perfect. Hes learning.
Donner had him going to the fortress and tadaa he was savior of the world already accepted.
This was not the idea here. Funny how stuff that is never adressed in other big movies are a problème here. Too much action and too much dead lol
Snyder and co should had a lame VoiceOver saying "city has been cleare fallout shelters are locked". This is a real superman movie, if gods were to fight in a city we would suffer big Time and even superman cant save everyone.
For years superman has been mocked for being the boyscout for having no layers.
Here he making mistakes, getting angry, learning. Its a balsy superman.
Gosh people dissed returns but this is what they still want a ****ing donner rehash!
Thank god Snyder and co dont listen to fanboys.

Re: The Man of Steel

It must be cause you holding on to the reeves version, this is different you can't look at it comparing it to the old film, nostalgia will always win you over. I loved the burton batman films but I let them go and enjoyed the Nolan's much better that is I didn't.

What!?! I never said I didn't like MOS
