just watched this for a second time. It's a masterpiece.

I've noticed people either rate this film a 1 or a 10. It's really interesting polarizing film. First time watching it i didn't like it, AT ALL. I would've rated it a 1. I was revolted by it. It's one of the more primal, artistically raw films i've ever watched. You have to be ready to take a trip watching this one, because if you're not you'll be like a kid in the back of the seat yelling are we there yet? are we there yet? what's interesting is the first time around when it was over, the ending had me thinking about the movie for a good week afterwards which never happens.

I just bought the steelbook, and i was takling with my bro who loves the movie. He was going in detail about the plot, i was also watching interviews and youtube vids breaking down the meaning of this and that. I just finished it. It's probably the best movie I've seen since Mad Max Fury Road, in a way it blows mad max fury road out of the water, but Fury Road is a masterpiece when it comes to the action the main chase/battle scenes. It's a trip and my God it's a deranged one. it contains all emotions, everything under the sun.

but the end....the last 2 minutes after it's all over the Nick Cage is in his car....my GOD that's the best part of the movie. That part kills me, with theme playing after everything that just happened. After the heavy metal inspired - Hellraiser, House of 1000 corpses, Mad Max Road Warrior mish-mosh of a wild ride Panos took us on he gives us this deep feeling, soft, emotional ending that is as hardcore as the film itself. It's possibly the greatest crazy movie of all time.

Damn it! I didn’t like the film but you make me want to watch it again.

Any suggested viewings about this film I should watch before giving it another go?

There about 7-10 Mandy "Explained" videos on youtube. That's what i was watching. There is one 10 things you missed in Mandy and there is a behind the scenes video on there as well. What's interesting is some of the explained videos have completely different perspectives (one saying it's all a story Mandy made up, and she's a witch...ect, a bunch of interesting/weird/valid perspectives)

when i first watched the movie i was just trying to take it all in, and not much really stuck with me to be honest except crazy acid-filled violence and the emotional ending in the car. After watching the videos on youtube you realize how deep the film is and how much there is to take in and process. It's a really unique viewing experience, it's almost like you have to surrender your self to it and just go along for the ride. The first time i watched it i was like what's this, that's stupid...this sucks. The score is one of the best i've heard. It's beautiful, creepy, heavy and frightening, the song at the end in the car after Nick Cage went through HELL just KILLS ME. At the film's core it's a love story and a story about loss and dealing with grief. I've lost my share of loves ones, like all of us and that combined with outrageous acting performances, with a tremendous score, with horror and violence that rival evil dead and hellraiser, this film delivers for me across the board. It's probably the perfect yin and yang. I really like the slow beginning and getting to know Red & Mandy's relationship, only to see what transpires. and the Animated sequences, there is a lot take in with the brief animated scenes.

For any Joe Bob Briggs fans, he hosts this on his Last Drive in Show on Shudder, doing commentary in-between breaks in segments of the film. I think the man is a national treasure.
