Hey everybody.

I have been thinking about starting to collect the Medicom RAH Star Wars 12 inch figures and i was wondering what you guys think about them... Are they better than Sideshow's, are they worth the $150+ pricetag... And if anybody cold post some pics, i would really appreciate it.

Thanks

I'm with you! LOL! I have really been thinking of this. However you could not give me the Luke figure for free. Sorry that figure is ****e! But it's ok I shouldn't offend anyone because of this----------->:monkey3

First off...

You should probably prepare to have the whole point of this thread buried in yet another nasty flame war because the SSC "cheerleaders" and the Medicom "n*********s" Sad but probably true.

My $0.02 on your questions:

Medicom's articulation is better than Sideshow because the Medi base body is a more advanced design, but the Medicom plastic is more fragile.

Human facesculpts are better with Sideshow with the figures to date, but Jango is on par with Sideshow's sculpts.

The price? I think it would be better if it were around $80-100. $150-200 is too steep, but Medicom is the only company making the 1/6 armored SW characters that collectors want.

The scale difference in a combined Medi/SSC display is not a major issue for the most part. Vader is the exception because he should tower over other characters, but Medi's scale difference doesn't allow this. But the figure looks too cool to pass up if you can afford it.

Bottom line: I would buy the armored SW figures from Medicom, but get the Sideshow Jedi Luke instead of Medicom.

I can already see a stupid comment by either evilface or dekadentdave. It's just a matter of time...theyre just too predictable.

Awe, I'm glad I'm the first thing that springs to your mind.

As for the topic, if you pic and choose, the little guys are alright.

Especially if you like Little Vader.

I think the price is kinda high on the Medicoms, but they are excellent figures. And the nice thing is if you are patient you can save money. Stormies have been had for as low as $85 and Luke even less. I scored the ROTS Vader (thanks Seth :D ) for $60 w/o box.

So I think in some ways they are justified at the price, but its even better when you get a good deal!

Well, that's a good way to get one started. Let's just toss a little gasoline on the fire. :lol
--------------------------------------------------------------

I like Medicom's stuff. They make some kick ass figures at least the armored stuff anyways. I like my ROTS Vader it's pretty well put together. The hands suck on it though as they don't want to stay on as well as I would like. The BHST I have is freaking cool! The detail is really down right awesome and is easy to pose. I ordered the ROTS Clone but sent that to Josh (Darkartist) to be turned into a 501st, have Boba on order, and Jango. Then you toss in the Sandtrooper and I'm on my way to a lot of nice medicom figures in my collection. They're absolutley worth the money to get. Are they exspensive? Yes they are. That to me though is not an issue as far as their worth because the value in the quality is there.

Now, with SS figures they're worth it and then some. They IMO make the best figures on the market and for the price you can't get a better figure. The sculpt, details, etc all make the SS SW figs just amazing. I have every SW figure on order and actually have two Asajj figures coming so I can display both heads. I honestly feel like with SS figures I'm stealing the best items on the market. You can't go wrong with SS figures IMO and the same can be said with Medicom.

I may be a SS cheerleader but I can also say I like Medicom. :)

Here's a pic of the Shadow Stormtrooper.

Just callin' it the way history has shown it is.

Or hopefully instead of throwing gasoline on the fire, maybe people will see that and not want to be the first one to make it true... :monkey3

I am very choosy about the figures I get from any company, and I am even moreso when the figures have $100+ pricetags.

I love the few Medicoms I have gotten. I don't think you need our advice on what to get. Look at the figures and decide for yourself if you think they are worth it.

From experience, I can tell you that ROTJ Vader and Yoda are well-made figures.

They're even better when they've been repainted! The likenesses on Medicoms may not always be accurate, but they are always bold and full of character.

Here's a couple of repaints, just for fun.

And since he's a Medicom, here's Captain Jack.

Sith it is very important that when you bring any statement to fruition that you add the------->:monkey3

Love mine, here's the SW gang.....and yes I know Luke looks like Foreman. And that's stormtrooper Jack Bauer (looks better in person) on the right.

I think the likeness is probably the weekest of medicom figures. I think the big problem was the nose.

I wouldn't pay more than $100 for a collectible. Still wondering if i'll pay around that much for Hot Toys endoskeleton.

But I did get the Medicom Yoda. acceptable price, looks amazing, and works with Sideshow figures

I have couple but only because I managed to get them cheap. I have Stormtroopers since they are my second favorite thing from SW, then I got a clone for lil over $100 shipped so I could repaint it. Then I have Yoda.

I think they are still over priced if they were just a lil cheaper alot more people would be into these.

I ordered my first Medicom RAH - Boba Fett. Keen to see if this piece fits into the Sideshow environment.
I do have fear of one day the prices of Sideshow figures catches up with that of RAH.... that is quite unthinkable....

Medicom are great... i dig them... they look great with BBI and Dragon figures / customs...

I think they're absolutely worth the $150.00 price tag, they're expensive but very well made and so worth the money.

The Medicom bodies are better articulated than Sideshow's but this also makes them more fragile, so be careful when posing them.

There are a number of SW Medi's so it wouldn't be a problem if you wanted a large collection of these, aside from the expense of course. However because of the difference in scale they can't be posed along with SSC's collection, but again there are enough Medis that you could just display them seperately as a collection in their own right.

The Jedi Luke figure isn't a great likeness and personally I wouldn't buy it for my collection even though I'm a Medi freak.

However the subsequent releases have all been excellent, the armoured figures are great and really worth the money and the likenesses seem to have improved.

If you look at the recent Jango Fett likeness or the Tobey Maguire likeness on the Peter Parker figure you'll see what I mean.

Hope this helps:D

Snake, you're absolutely right about the nose. It is too broad for Mark Hamill. But it looks like the Medi sculpt is a bit too narrow/elongated and the hair is too well-groomed.

Good comparison pics though.

And I'm glad to see this thread hasn't turned into another b**chfest so far. We need more constructive threads around here, and I think everyone's been very respectful of each other's opinions so far.
