Say what you will about the sequels, but the first is a classic. Originally released on July 2, 1997. :lecture

I also just realized that tomorrow is the 15 year anniversary of Men in Black II... one I'm sure most of us would rather forget. :rotfl

As a mammoth fan of the franchise, there are parts of MIB2 that I enjoyed. My big issue with MIB2 is that, while MIB1 and MIB3 both have a balance of sexual and non-sexual humor, MIB2 has an extreme overabundance of sexual humor. I enjoy it, don't get me wrong, but there's a limit. Heck, even the villain in MIB2 was a big sexual joke. Also the plot was basically a retread of what we already saw with MIB1 and the final battle was kinda dumb.

MIB3 is a great film IMO, but it's not for everyone. Just don't expect the quality of Back to the Future and you should be fine. All time travel movies have plot holes. Plus Josh Brolin delivered a spot-on impression of TLJ.

I love the second one, hate the third

Is not even the time travel plot holes.

I hated that a lot of the stuff in part 3 was boring. At least the sex humor in part 2 was entertaining. The vilain in 3 was kinda lame and his plan was dumb and its just not that entertaining

I swear you and I must have the exact opposite taste when it comes to humor. :lol

But that's fine. :duff

I'll let everyone continue the MIB2 love fest if that's what y'all want. :duff

Its just boring..... tell me what great jokes or funny scenes the third one has?

At least the second had better alien creatures and the plot was bigger

You just can't stop can you? :slap

In MIB2, it's the same basic formula as MIB1 - villain is out to obtain some obscure object that in their hands would lead to the destruction of another alien race. I thought the final battle was kind of dumb because at the very moment Serlena could have secured "the light" (which turned out to be Laura); the thing that she had been searching for all those years, what does she do? She instead grabs Agent J, who was standing right next to Laura. If I was searching for someone for 25 years and had the opportunity to secure them, I wouldn't grab the person standing directly next to them. :cuckoo: And while Agent J was making out with Serlena's tentacles (or whatever), Agent K was still trying to tell Laura to GTF on that ship while she did nothing but stare at TLJ. Then, after finally being shot a dozen times by Agent K, Serlena then decides to go after Laura. And as far as the jokes go, they were entertaining for about the first half hour. However, they quickly became very predictable and I was bored to tears with the part at the end where Zed and Frank were talking about their sexual interests. Practically every other joke in that movie is something sexual. Would you go to a museum if every painting was just a slightly altered version of the Mona Lisa?

In MIB3, we have yet another villain who is out to obtain an obscure object that in their hands would lead to the destruction of another race/planet (in this case Earth). However, what makes this more unique is that in the process of trying to stop the villain, Agent J goes back in time to figure out exactly how his partner became the surly, grumpy old man that he is in the present. He also unexpectedly learns that in the process of saving Earth, he did so at the price of his father's own life. It becomes more of a story about how Agent K sort of became a surrogate father to Agent J. Much more unique than MIB2 if you ask me. As far as the jokes go, one good one IMO was the part about how if the MIB arrested the Chinese restaurant owner, it would be a hate crime - only for Agent K to rip off his apron; revealing that he is an alien. It was racist to some extent, but there was also a scene where Agent J stole a little girl's chocolate milk and then the girl said "Mommy the president is drinking my milk." Then there was Will Arnett's line about "the little men in black's room". I'm sure I could think of others if I felt better right now.

Of course all of this is just my opinion. Your opinion is fine too, but you seem awfully convinced that it is objective fact. Sorry for such a lengthy post, but you asked for it.

I'm seriously feeling kind of sick right now (for reasons unrelated to this thread), so I probably won't be online for the rest of the day. Bye bye. :wave

First one all the way.

On a side note, anyone got the Enterbay MIB figs? I always thought the TLJ hs was pretty dead on.

As a big MIB fan, I want those figures badly, and I've been half tempted to pay the bulls*** aftermarket prices for them. But, every time I stop and think about it, I refuse to give into paying more than something is truly worth.

I know everyone here is going to say "just buy black suit kits and the head sculpts", but IMO the Enterbay figures come with enough unique accessories that aren't sold parted-out to warrant purchase of the entire figures. I'm just waiting for a good deal.

First season of the animated series was good too.
Way better than crappy movie sequels.

Later seasons had great episodes but... I just really didn't like Gregg Berger as K.

I liked the first and third film. TLJ and Smith make a good team and Vincent Vincent D'Onofrio was great as the villain. Young TLJ in part 3 was awesome, and the best part of MIBIII.

Part 2 was a disappointment with all the bad cameos, bad CGI (at times), bad product placements, and TLJ looked bored. Glad Brolin took over in part 3.

The cartoon was awesome too....maybe better than the movie :chase

That walk tho :lol

edit

Riddick posted the cartoon intro already. Didn't see it.

I always wished that one of the movies dealt with the tiny little villain aliens from the cartoon.
I wish they made them into live action

LOL relax you didn't get me sick. I felt that way ever since I got up this morning. It's just the weather in my area. I've always hated summer, and the hot weather just makes my anger management problems so much worse... Plus I had too much chocolate yesterday. Felt like I was going to vomit until I had lunch. I'm better now.
