You just can't stop can you?
In MIB2, it's the same basic formula as MIB1 - villain is out to obtain some obscure object that in their hands would lead to the destruction of another alien race. I thought the final battle was kind of dumb because at the very moment Serlena could have secured "the light" (which turned out to be Laura); the thing that she had been searching for all those years, what does she do? She instead grabs Agent J, who was standing
right next to Laura. If I was searching for someone for 25 years and had the opportunity to secure them, I wouldn't grab the person standing directly next to them.
And while Agent J was making out with Serlena's tentacles (or whatever), Agent K was still trying to tell Laura to GTF on that ship while she did nothing but stare at TLJ. Then, after finally being shot a dozen times by Agent K, Serlena
then decides to go after Laura. And as far as the jokes go, they were entertaining for about the first half hour. However, they quickly became
very predictable and I was bored to tears with the part at the end where Zed and Frank were talking about their sexual interests. Practically every other joke in that movie is something sexual. Would you go to a museum if every painting was just a slightly altered version of the Mona Lisa?
In MIB3, we have yet another villain who is out to obtain an obscure object that in their hands would lead to the destruction of another race/planet (in this case Earth). However, what makes this more unique is that in the process of trying to stop the villain, Agent J goes back in time to figure out exactly how his partner became the surly, grumpy old man that he is in the present. He also unexpectedly learns that in the process of saving Earth, he did so at the price of his father's own life. It becomes more of a story about how Agent K sort of became a surrogate father to Agent J.
Much more unique than MIB2 if you ask me. As far as the jokes go, one good one IMO was the part about how if the MIB arrested the Chinese restaurant owner, it would be a hate crime - only for Agent K to rip off his apron; revealing that he is an alien. It was racist to some extent, but there was also a scene where Agent J stole a little girl's chocolate milk and then the girl said "Mommy the president is drinking my milk." Then there was Will Arnett's line about "the little men in black's room". I'm sure I could think of others if I felt better right now.
Of course all of this is just my opinion. Your opinion is fine too, but you seem awfully convinced that it is objective fact. Sorry for such a lengthy post, but you asked for it.
I'm seriously feeling kind of sick right now (for reasons unrelated to this thread), so I probably won't be online for the rest of the day. Bye bye.
