Recently a few of us from SSF bought high end collectables that had prices to good to be true from a Ebay seller ( Ebay Id life-luck , ZhiNian Zhang) in China that took the $$$ and ran.
I got my $1300 back because of what I learned many years ago. Im going to summarize my stories to get to the point.

Arod was traded to the Yankees. I bought 50 of his UD rookies for $400 from ([email protected] Shawn Carney) At the time from what I recall this a-hole had great feedback. He took the money and never sent the items. I waited 3 weeks and opened the case with bspay I mean Paypal. I won the case but it turned out he had cleared all the money in his account. Paypal but a lock on his account. I called paypal they said we cant do anything inless he adds money to his account..... So if he choses to never use this paypal account I out the money right? Paypal "yes." :slap

I had paid with my checking account so I said Ill just go to Wamu and tell them. Well I went on the 34 day since paypal likes to wait 2 weeks to do anything. Wamu said we could have done something but you waited a few days to long. :slap

2 months ago I bought shoes ($150) from China not on ebay. The 2 pairs came and one was a different shoe entirely and the other had purple on it vs blue. I wrote the guy and told him the issues. He said "sorry, ill give you 15% off your next pair, Cant return these because with shipping I will lose money." :slap

I opend a claim with bspay (Paypal) within 5 minutes case was closed not in my favor. I called.
Me: Case was closed in 5 min, I think i clicked something wrong.....
Paypal: No, you didnt buy it on ebay, we only cover ebay.
Me: I said FINE I will call Visa!
Paypal: Wait a minute sir, how about I give you $40.00?"
Me: What are you talking about?
Paypal: If you go to Visa between us it will cost $2,000 to resolve the issue. How about $80?
Me: :lol How about $150 since the shoes are PURPLE!
Paypal: Ok sir, keep the shoes and within 2 days your account will have $150.

Moral of my experience:
When you come to pay with Paypal, clear whatever cash balance you have and use a credit card inless you are horrible with paying on time. Paypal makes extra $$ when you use a balance on your paypal account because they still charge fees. With a credit card you might get rewards based on what you have. Dont wait till the 45 day to open a claim. Seller doesnt respond after 2.5 weeks of the sale date :impatient:, make your move. :peace

yep....always use a CC on anything you think might be shady because CC companies always will back you up. Your bank? Not so much. In Fact, most likely never.

Not true....Paypal wasn't going to give my money back after Riko scammed me. I called my bank explained the situation and three days later all the money was back in my bank account and my bank called to follow up to make sure that paypal returned all of my money. Some banks are good.

Sorry this happened to you, but this is something covered in several of the "Ebay sucks" threads. Thanks for the heads up though!!! This kind of B.S. is why I no longer use Paypal OR Ebay.

Credit Card via paypal. No problems, ever. Probably make about 200 ebay transactions a year at least. 100 or so more privately.

I just had a nasty experience with that Life-Luck character. I'm going through it as we speak. It's amazing when you contact ebay or paypal. Who hires the workers there???? None of them know what they are saying or doing, and they don't seem to care much.
It's like a race to get you off the phone.

Anyhow, I purchased 3 items from this Life-Luck character. The thing about it is that at the time I bought the items from him, he only had one negative comment in the last year. During the time I've tried sending him emails asking him questions, he would reply and say "not to worry, and that he was closing his shop in China, blah, blah, and re-assuring everything would be okay. After a while, he stopped responding to my emails.

I began researching his ebay name all over the net and found one or two websites with information about him selling counterfeit items, and taking endless years to have items delivered.

I paid for my merchandise on the 3rd of October. He supposedly shipped them on the 8th. I've sent him emails asking for tracking and the whole nine yards. He responded back to me once or twice after shipping, and I never heard from him again.

There was a fourth item that I had purchased, which I had not paid for yet. When I finally had the funds available, he advised not to make the payment as he had shipped my other items out already and it was too late. (Mind you, this was on the same day of the 8th).

The result: This item is still in my ebay queue as an unpaid item. Two days ago, I receive an open case for unpaid item.
WTF?? I call ebay, and the rep told me that even though it's not my fault, I would still need to wait until the case is closed to appeal it.
Can someone tell me why ebay can't close an open case from a seller that is obviously scamming???

Anyway, I opened three cases with Paypal on November 2nd against the seller, and they currently show open on ebay's side as well. If you buy through ebay, and pay through paypal you should be fully covered if the items are received or if they are not as described.

Now, I'm being told to wait until the 12th to escalate to the resolutions center even though I'm sure that the seller will not respond during those ten days. Even if he does, what is he to say??

To top things off, I've for these items partially with a credit card paid through paypal, but the large majority was paid through monies on my paypal account for selling items. Sure, all the monies on my paypal came from credit cards, but from buyers. (This is what has kept me from doing a chargeback.)

I believe paypal has blocked his account already. It's just a shame how long it took them to do it. In the last month, this seller's had about 17 negative comments left for him or more.

Anybody else with this experience??

ESCALADE IT NOW!!! Dont wait. I waited 6 seconds before I did it and that was to let the page load.

nothing about misconceptions...imo, if you dont know this you shouldnt be using paypal.

:goodpost:

Before I opened my Paypal account I tried to learn as much about them as I could. Which is why when I file a claim a get nervous since their resolution process is retarded.

And when Paypal got bought by Ebay I knew things were going to get worse.

Amazing! Ebay really S**ks...I use eBid now, and they are so cheap and growing. Most people who ebay tossed off for no reason...Which alot of stories I read about them is true! they give you no explanation to why they close your account. Happened to friends also. if you email them, they don't reply with reason.

ebid is not all bad...Not the greatest! but better then nothing

yep, i usually use my CC through Paypal if its a high priced item cause i assume Paypal will not have my back. They already screwed me out of $450 before.
