Holy Crap! I even missed this when I first glanced at the newsletter.

"Today she has granted the wishes of for the couple that welcomed Little Stryder into the world"

I new my wife was entering something for me and unless there's another person out there that had a kid this year and gave him the name Stryder (actually it's his middle name just in case he decides it's not professional enough later on) the mistress is giving me something. Now I just need to get the wife to spill what Lord of the Rings thing she did. Although I have a feeling it's the Aragorn PF since she knows I had saved up for it and then canceled it for baby expenses.



Man this rocks! Unless of course it's not me then it's just the ultimate tease.

Its his Middle name. The funny thing a couple of years back my wife and I decided we could have one name each boy and girl that we'd put into possibility whenever we had kids....my selection for a boy Ben Kenobi. Kenobi being his middle name...I've changed my mind since then but if my kid were born back then he'd be a Jedi for life.

his first name is Daryl same as mine. my wife really likes my name and I didn't want the name to die out since that is apparently the rarest way to spell it but i wasn't keen on calling him the same name as me so we decided to go by the middle name. i've loved the lord of the rings since i was 5 and strider was my favorite character in it so i've always liked that name and planned on putting something Tolkien in at least one of my kids names.

Stryder was in competition for the first name but we just kept going back to what if he really gets made fun of for it and the whole "unprossefional" name thing so this way when he's older he can choose.

Incidentally, my own fiancee has suggested that we should name our first son Rohan. Which is cool in two ways, because I can shorten it to Han.

needless to say it has taken our family's a while to warm up to it and people have called him striker or given us weird looks but we like it and so does our daughter (she's almost 3).

I actually kind of like it....then again I think Apple is cute for a little girl so I guess I'm not the best baby name consultant....could have been worse just think if your favorite character were something or someone else. He could have been named Daryl Moria Orc or Daryl Gandalf or even Daryl Treebeard. Rock on with the name and congrats on the win.
