3500 for Saruman, thats pretty high. I think threy should have stuck with 2000, since that ES number has been successful (for now). Elrond will bomb.

Why will Elrond bomb? The new pics of him looked really good, best Elrond likeness thus far. And that ES will keep him popular.

I expected Elrond to be 2000 or maybe even 1500 to make him rarer than Strider and the Ringwraith. But apparently he is more popular than either of those characters.

:D

We'll see if the line is popular enough yet to warrant 3500 Saruman busts. Has the audience for these really almost doubled since the initial two releases? I know the Ringwraith is a hit, but surely that is because people are buying multiples. That's not going to happen with Saruman.

Saruman is one of the best busts announced thus far though. The light up feature is great for this one and the likeness looks to be dead on. They really seem to have done everything right for this bust and I'm sure it got a lot of people to pre-order it.

You hit the nail on the head Tom. Saruman and Elrond may gain value over time, but they won't be nearly as popular as the Ringwraith and Strider during their initial release.

The Ringwraith is going to be the hardest to find piece in this entire line (barring any ghastly low ES exclusive that GG will pull) The low ES, the great sculpt, and the fact that people are buy multiples will make this a rarity in only a few months.

I think that Saruman is the best release yet in this line. If I had only one on these, I would choose him. I don't think he will have a problem selling out, but he won't end up as valuable or hard to find as the Ringwraith.

I think we'll see the Ringwraith cracking $100 in the next few weeks. After the initial eBay flood is over, it's anyone's guess how much this is going to inflate.

A-M-E-N, Loki! Perfectly said.

I think the Saruman looks amazing.

I don't think these edition sizes are too high. GG tested the waters with the first two, and they were instant sell-outs. So I gotta think that these will be easier to find but still sell through very well. Over time they'll not only hold... but gain value. More and more people will keep jumping into the line when they see the quality of the pieces.

Actually these are good edition sizes. Not too large, and I'm certainly glad that Elrond is lower than Gandalf and the Balrog.

GG seems to be doing everything right with this line, which is unnerving in the light of all their other recent blunders.

If there's anything I've learned from GG is that they will find a way to F*ck a good thing up

After the Weta statue of course.

2000 seems good for these, but 1500 would be ideal.

Well, I'm not sure the Weta statue has a better likeness. If anything, both of the Weta Elronds are too sharp-faced, so to speak.

Still, their main problem is in that they don't depict the iconic Elrond of Rivendell, but the barely-glimpsed Prologue Elrond.

So the GG bust is actually filling a pretty large gap here, larger than any of the other five busts before Sam and Frodo.

Well to each their own, but for my money the Elrond statue is just about perfect - though agreed, from a rather short moment of the films.

If GG had made Elrond from Rivendell, I think it actually would have made a better display. As it is the bust might look a bit odd without the exact Aragorn to receive Anduril.

Still, I don't think Elrond is a popular enough character to warrant such a large ES - this will be easily obtained later.

hahaha, so true

I was so getting tired of the SW bust exclusives and drop the line and passed to SS PF line.

if GG will do the same with the LOTR busts and if SS will announce some new LOTR pieces, dropping LOTR bust line will not be difficult for me at all.

GG need to learn to play nice imo

It seems they are doing the opposite. Have you seen the new B&W 3PO maquette :pow

I saw the thread but did not even hassle to open the page as I got sick and tired of B&W understanding of GG.

these are just tricky games to exploit people's hobby imo

SW was never B&W, and some characters were never animated

Not suprised on Saruman. Great looking bust and awesome character. Elrond, I thought would be lower. The sculpt still isn't that great IMO and no better than the SSW by anymeans.

Well I decided to hope into LOTR bust collecting just last week so I had to track down a set of the first two which was kind of hard. I know I definitely have a set coming from one of the best retailers around who sold me two even after they were sold out. They should be here Tuesday. I have two other order for Wraiths and one more for Strider. I think if all of those come through I still shouldnt have to big of a problem getting rid of the Strider. I may keep one more wraith and sell the other or just keep both. I havent decided yet.

Anyway I think around 2000 to 3000 for these is good numbers. I think that Frodo and Sam need to be 2000 because for me those arent what I really remember about the characters the most. I really cant wait to have the Fellowship of the Ring with all 9 busts lined up.
