'Must Have' exclusives?

In your opinion, what Sideshow Marvel pieces have exclusive versions that you would consider a 'Must' to own? Meaning if you're going to buy the piece, you don't think think it's worth having without the exclusive.

Looking for no more than a Top 3, but if you absolutely feel it's a must to own, throw it up there.









1) X-men vs. Sentinel #1

2) Captain America PF

3) Wolverine comiquette

followed closely by a Thor PF, Wolverine diorama, and black/red Spiderman PF

I don't really consider any of them to be "must-haves," because each is pretty much glorious even in its regular incarnation. If I had a preference, these would be the best exclusives...

1. Cap PF (WWII Alternate Shield, Helmet and Portrait)
2. Red Skull PF (Cosmic Cube)
3. Wolverine Comiquette (Alternate Unmasked Portrait)

The Cosmic Cube is such a central presence in the struggle between Captain America and his nemesis that I have a hard time imagining my collection without that version on display. I don't own the Red Skull, and I likely won't be able to fit it into my collection. If I did, however, that's the route I would take.

The Captain America Exclusive is chock full of goodies that makes for the best bang-for-the-buck ratio in Sideshow's arsenal, bar none that I know of. Cap's an icon of two eras, and the exclusive version allows the collector to pick which one best suits his style.

And Wolverine's alternate headsculpt just looks incredibly bad@$$. I just switched the masked portrait out for this one this morning, after a hiatus of several months, and it's just so sharp and well-painted and absolutely ferocious. Well done.

I don't collect dios, so of the PFs and Comiquettes I own:

1. Captain America Ex.
Although I have the regular as well, the Ex. is just an outstanding sculpture with enough accessories to nicely display him from two distinct eras.

2. Doom Ex.
While the figure/throne sculpt itself is awesome, in my opinion, the chalice and pedestal, with his luger if you can get it out, really add a lot to the overall display.

3. Grey Hulk PF
I also have the green, but the Grey representation is the better paint job, in my opinion and, aside from being accurate to his original coloring, does a better job of showing his monstrous form.

Honorable mention would got to the red/black Spider-Man. When I put it next to my red/blue, it is clearly the more striking of the two. I do have both versions of Thor coming, so will reserve judgement on that one until they arrive. I suspect the clean-shaven will be my preference since that is how I best remember him from years of reading comics.

I also have the Wolverine Ex. and Iron Man Ex. but never display them with the unmasked heads, so the regulars would be just as good to me.

I toyed with ranking the Iron Man up there as well, as the Stark sculpt is fantastic, and I've seen plenty of issues with him wearing the armor sans helmet. Really awesome display option.

Sideshow's Marvel line is the most striking line that they make.

I really only agree (so far) with the X-Men vs. Sentinel # 1 EX as a must have (maybe Iron Man EX and Thing EX).

1) The Doom EX is optional, IMO, to the look of the statue. It's not like he is holding it or anything. It just sits next to him.

2) The Grey Hulk is just a color swap of the Green one. Maybe if he came with an outfit to make him look like Joe Fixit.

3) Captain America. I agree that the EX makes the statue totally different. For me, though, I really don't like the WWII Cap look and the EX just adds the complication of having swappable pieces in which the magnets can give way.


DISCLAIMER: As far as $$$ goes, the EX is always the way to go. The EX pieces above do add some nice display options. As far as overall utility, though, I would be happy with the regular versions instead of paying much more for the EX.

Honorable Mention:
-Spiderman EX. PF
-International Thing PF (Yes, I said it!!!!!!) Limited to only 250, you can't go wrong there.

I can't judge the Thor EX. PF YET, since he's not in my possession but he will likely join these ranks soon. He'll be here Friday.

Even though it's not a Marvel item, I think THE most VITAL exclusive accessory for ANY Sideshow PF is the General Grievous cape!!!!! It is a MUST MUST have... I think it's BY FAR the best exclusive accessory to date

I don't own that piece, but I agree with you that GG cape is a must have for that statue. I wouldn't even look at a non-exclusive version for him.

I have the IM excl and never display it with the Stark head(looks silly with the action pose) and the helmet looks 10x cooler, so I would consider this the most useless exclusive.

I like the Doom chalice but the real beauty of the statue is the Throne and Doom himself so I don't consider the ex a must have.

When you think Hulk you think Green(Jade Giant,Green Goliath), the reg is the one to own IMO.

I recalled on a thread on the X-men vs Sent 1 Ex, stating having electronics & lights just cheapens the look and degrades its statue statue. LOL, cause i think its the lights which helps to cement its status of a grail.

#2 would be Cap PF Ex for double bang for the buck

#3 would be SIM. Mainly for the lights again!
