I'll be watching this thread as my girlfriend watches several Bollywood movies a week.
I haven't been able to get into any Bollywood films, though I think Shahrukh Khan is a fantastic actor. Every now and then I'll watch a couple scenes he's in (he seems to be in every other movie she watches).
I'd love to see him in a Hollywood film as that is the film genre that I enjoy most (though I really love some of the Iranian and Korean films I've seen over the years).
Watched Dabangg 2 and Talash. Both were average.
Curious to know if people watch or even know anything about the fantastic parallel cinema that India has. Guess most people only know about the commercial masala melodramatic movies with those typical song and dance routines.
Are you referring to the other Indian movie industries like Tamil and telegu?

Referring to the serious or more popularly known as 'Art' cinema. Older movies like Saaransh, Ardh Satya, Ankur, etc. I guess not many like to watch such kind, the 'slice of life', stuff. One of my favourite contemporary directors is Vishal Bhardwaj, absolutely love the way he presents his ideas. Also in the league would be Dibankar Banerjee (and Anurag Kashyap), should watch his Khosla Ka Ghosla.
Love this song from one of his movies, you might like it if you haven't heard it yet:
