It looks like Moon starring Sam Rockwell is going to have a sequel. The director, Duncan Jones, actually said he wants to make a trilogy out of it all set in the same universe.

The next film will be called Mute, and it is set in a futuristic Berlin. A mute bartender goes looking for his missing girlfriend and finds a world of trouble in a Blade Runner-esque underworld. If Moon was an homage to 2001, then Mute will Jones' love poem to Blade Runner.

Sam Rockwell has already been approached to reprise his role as Sam Bell. You can see some early concept art here...

I would guess that the guy standing on the left side of the art could be Rockwell's character. It kind of looks like his hair style.

Other sites are reporting that Jones is working on another film with Jake Gyllenhaal attached as the lead actor. The film is called Source Code and features a soldier played by Gyllenhaal who's mind is somehow transferred into the body of a civilian on a train that is bombed by terrorists. He must relive the bombing over and over until he finds out how to stop it. A sci-fi version of Groundhog's Day? :)

awesome. Moon was one of the best sci-fi movies in a long time imo. Looking forward to seeing where this goes.

Watching the special features of Moon, if I recall correctly, the director did talk about following Rockwell's character on earth in his legal battle against the company he worked for, and the experience of possibly running across
family/friends/other self/etc
. Might work better if any of that is a sub-plot to some other story, though, rather than just focusing on that potential storyline.

This could be promising... Moon was amazing; and I'd love to see more films with the same kind of sensibility.

Yes! Can't wait to see what Jones does! Moon was def one of my favourite films last year, and is probably one of the best sci-fi films I've seen in the past 5-10 years.

And Source Code sounds brilliant! :rock:rock

I watched Moon on Saturday night, and absolutely loved it. If a sequel is done well it could be amazing, there's so much potential left there.

Hopefully this is better than Moon and will take place in more than one place, and with more than one actor. A little bit of an exaggeration, I know, but not by much.

Dark Horse Presents – Duncan Jones & Glenn Fabry – MUTE! | Man Made Movies

Duncan Jones' Script 'Mute' to Become a Graphic Novel | /Film
This was back in 2011.

Mute was going to be set in the Moon-iverse and it's also kind of a homage by Duncan Jones to one of his favourite films, Blade Runner.

Damn studio executives for letting this screenplay pass by, hence Duncan had to make this into a graphic novel instead of a movie.

Duncan Jones will be signing this Mute artwork by Glenn Fabry at the Dark Horse Comics booth today.

From his twitter: "Warcraft signing will be at 11am at booth 3920, Mute signing at 3pm at booth 2615. :) "

The movie sounded like it could have been awesome, a real shame it never got made. Looks like it could work really well as a graphic novel though.

Someone saw how good Oblivion was .... Moon was very decent

Too bad its not getting made. Moon was so damn good, its a shame more people haven't seen it. Sam Rockwell is the most underrated actor of this generation, IMO.

At least there's still a possibility. I'll definitely get the graphic novel.

Looking forward to it. Duncan Jones has some serious talent. Source Code was great too.

Edit: this isn't getting made anymore? No deal.
