The Poppies and People's Picks voting for best pop culture collectibles has wrapped up, and now I'm busily working on the results. It's going to take a few though, so while you're waiting, check out my picks for Best - and Worst! - of 2012. You'll find it at the usual:

And if you have a few minutes, check out the first part of an interview I did with Action Figure Resource:

Thanks for reading, and have a terrific weekend!

I found myself agreeing with a lot of Michael's picks, especially his outlook on the industry.

Glad to see The Bridge Directs Hobbit line get in there and the Key to Erebor. Would have liked to have seen some more love for Middle-earth related items. Good read though Mike.

Hi Michael,

Great list.

I just had a question with regards to your mention of the Hot Toys Resident Evil: Afterlife Alice. You said it was not their first attempt at doing her. Are you sure? I don't recall a previous Alice from them.

Michael, I liked your interview with Action Figure Resource. Answered a lot of questions about the logistics of reviewing the number of toys you do. Plus it was probably a good idea since you probably get the same questions over and over. Now you can just send them a link to this interview :lol

I have a question, has a company ever been "upset" with you over a bad review? Don't have to name names or anything, just curious.

Anyways, I refer to your site frequently, thanks for the service you do for us collectors!

Upset? Absolutely. I've had companies say I had a personal vendetta against them, I've had companies threaten to sue, I've had companies tell me I was not allowed to ever review another of their products (not sure how they thought that was going to work). It's pretty rare though, and most understand I do my best to be fair.

Wow, worse than I thought. Funny stuff though! If you think about it, it could be considered a compliment. It means they realize you make an impact. I'm sure they wouldn't make a big deal if random joe schmo was giving a poor review.

Gotta say I'm very surprised by Playmates getting top honors... I can agree with the TMNT line being a great one (even though it's not one I collect) but not that the one line would make them company of the year?

Most improved maybe... but I'd think consistency and quality would reign supreme.

And I too am terrible to buy gifts for :lol

Thanks for sharing Michael it was fascinating to hear you talk about your site and your collection. I have collected seriously for as long as you had your site so it's been cool to see the longevity, for over a decade I've wondered how you've been able to store and buy all this stuff. Always a great resource and I applaud you for your consistency as one of the staples in the hobby. Bravo!
