The Battle Droid with S.T.A.P. went up for pre-order at Sideshow tonight, so it seems appropriate that I'm reviewing the first two pack of Droids tonight. I'm suprised at how well designed the articulation is - you can find the review at the usual:

Thanks for reading, and have a great weekend - and don't forget the People's Picks voting only has a few more days!

Let me be the first to say it... "you're necks are not fully extended".

Now onto reading the review :lol

So now that I've read it; your review gets a thumbs up :lol

Although I'm surprised these didn't get a **** rating; I really can't think of much that could have been improved on them? Oh, and you can also extend out the antenna on the backpack... pull those out and the necks and the figures looks much better :lecture

My necks are as far out as they go - I ain't pulling on them any harder, at least not without a couple beers first. :) But I didn't know about the antenna - thanks!

Good review, MC. But, yeah, you need to extend those necks. :lol

Now that you've reviewed them, please check out the thread for pics. And I don't think there were any real complaints about the shape of the head or length of the legs. The one thing most people complained about is what you didn't; the lack of magnets to prevent the backpacks from falling off.

great review, as usual, really dig your site.
The necks will go higher. Look at some of the other pics on the forum. Notice the bottom of the neck detail on galictboys pic up top. Yours are not at that point yet.
No liquid courage needed.
cheers.

Hmmm, magnets for the backpacks? I didn't see any need. The posts fit well, and the packs didn't fall off easily - not sure why you'd need a magnet.

Seems like it - mine definitely didn't want to go any further without some elbow grease, and if you've broken as many toys as I have you tend to err on the safe side. Now that I know they can go further though, I'll give it a try this weekend.

I didn't have much of an issue; but the packs fit very loosely on a number of peoples figures which would cause them to fall off. You and I just happened to get lucky I guess.

I put my figures in front of a space heater for about 2 minutes on each side to warm them up. The necks do pull out further than your picks; but I found I had to be sure to hold the neck (below the head) and the torso and gently wiggle the neck back and forth while also pulling outward. It was a a bit scary on the first one, but after it locked into place getting the second figure's neck out was no problem.

If you see in my pics, the necks flare out at the base, that's how you know they're fully extended.

Yeah the necks, when pulled out, will get all tight right where the joint that allows the neck to move forward and backward resides. It will then POP out rather suddenly from the upper torso and it almost looks broken as the joint is rather rough looking. Luckily that added motion gives the droids an enormous boost in poseability and they just look way better. With the necks fully extended the height issue is completely gone.

These are really great figures, but I expect to see later breakages (just like IG-88) as time goes by from some members, you really need to treat them with kid gloves. A shelf dive would shatter them onto most flooring which is too bad as they stand so well on their own. I opted with no stands but leaning towards the wall if they go...

I used some Sideshow Stands with crotch arms to prevent any issues with the figures... the foot print on the shelf is a bit larger than I'd like; but it keeps them nice and safe.

Yep I tried the same at first, but they are sooo skinny that my stands looked more substantial and interfered with the look.

I could see that... I may just do away with the stands at this point. They are on the lowest shelf in a carpeted room... so the risk of damage is pretty low.

Hopefully their light weight would factor in, but then I think about those opposable thumbs and that tiny ball joint and I get cold shivers...
