I'm very excited to having this finished and hopefully bringing it to Comic Con this year. I am currently working on the back for metal lining + leather straps onto it. Took me about a week or less so far! If you guys are planning on making one, please don't hesitate to ask me questions!

Materials used so far:

Aluminum spun 26'' dome
10' aluminum spun designed star
red + blue anondized paint

good job man. I'll be keeping an eye on your progress and ditto on where did you get the materials? I'd love to make one too. thanks!

Most aluminum shops offer to make them for you provided that you give them a picture and size. But they are VERY familiar with people asking about custom "captain america" shields lol

What do you mean by aluminum shops? The only thing I know of is aluminum recycling places? What would I have to google to find an aluminum shop?

Looks great, are the circles perfect or slightly deformed? Might be lens distortion but it looks a bit deformed in some places

you mean the back? I'm still working on the leather and metal straps for the back that's why no pictures yet.
:D

The circles are not deformed, they have very thin ridges in between the colors that separate them
I think it might be lense distortion lol, will upload more pics once I find my better camera!

Ah its the ridges causing shadows, It looks amazing bud wish I had the talent to do one.

Was very hard doing the painting process. It has to be perfectly even sprays. Even for this shield there are some uneven sprays but it's no noticeable at all.

Update: almost done with the back straps and this shield will be ready to go!

Thanks guys for the thoughts :)

Ps: it definitely does not cost over 1.2k to make like some of the ones sold on ebay :)

Looks absolutely brilliant! Some of the black spots, or rather too many of them makes the battle damage seem "fabricated" though and not "natural" battle damage, but it looks amazing!

If your shield is laying flat on it's back. How many inches is it to the top of the dome you think? 4-5?
