Okay, I don't think I got one that was quite as bad as some...but the paint is still far worse than is acceptable. That's too bad too, because the sculpt, outfit and accessories are excellent - the paint stops this from being the best LOTR figure so far. The review is at the usual:

Thanks for reading!

Another good review, Michael. Seeing your pics of the headsculpt paint applications, I can honestly say that you got one alot better painted than mine.

Must have been the lowest score in the paint category you ever gave to a high-end collectibles company...

Nice review, and congrats on getting a decent Faramir, even with the shortcomings you mention, he looks much better than what I received.

Sounds like a few of you should roll the dice and send them back.

Its a real shame this figures paint ended-up so bad. He was never a figure I was interested in, but sometimes if the end result is good enough you can be swayed to purchase. This is definitely a case where I'll be sitting on the side lines.

Good review Michael.
It definitely looks like you received one with a slightly better paint app (except for the gloss) than most here.

On the tailoring: The belt is bothersome...looks like it barely fits. You mention that the leather jerkin seems a bit baggy....does it appear like there could be a way through redressing him to make that tighter around him and perhaps create a little more length on that belt?
I wish that buckle on the front were correct...it's a small detail, but it's a real focal point on the outfit's front on movie stills (and the prototype of this figure!).

On the tacky boots: I recall Jabba's arms being pretty tacky (and stinky) upon arrival, but the tackiness went away along with a bit of the sheen...maybe that will be the case with the boots.

Again, thanks for another thorough review. I'm getting mine later this week...I hope he's closer to the one you got in appearance than some of the early arrivals around here...

It snaps in back, so you have to unsnap it to pull it tighter. You won't be able to resnap it, but can hold it shut with the belt.

Uh-oh. I knew I should have gone with the **1/2 stars overall.

:lol

No! No! That costume! It's freakin' amazing! EVERY LAYER IS PERFECT!!! The sculpt is dead on! It's only the paint on the face and boots.

Of course, I might me just a liiiiiiiiittle bit biased . . . but proudly so. :D

Yea, I was just giving Josh a hard time. That's exactly why he did manage the three stars - the outfit and accessories (and sculpt) were so good that it would be unfair to pull the overall down too low on the single category screw up.

Well, I hate to say it but I'm glad I cancelled mine at the last minute. I didn't really care about getting the exclusive on this one so ,if the price is right, I'll be picking one up on ebay so that I can play around with repainting him and try my hand at dying that cloak and weathering his awesome outfit.

Nice review MC!:clap

hey mike, you probably know this already, but I have read that you can fix the weak shoulder joint by wrap a rubber band around it. Never tried it myself, but it sounds like it should work.

BTW, good reviews as always.

Thanks Michael...I'll give tht a shot when I get him.

When I first clicked (through the MROTW site) my first impression was that it was a belated review of one of Toybiz's Faramirs.

I'm done with this line, but I'm glad Boromir, my fav, was a homerun.
