I got my First Hot Toys figure today, The Tony Stark Mech Test outfit. Being a late comer to HT, I was pretty excited. I saw the Mark 3 on a visit to Hong kong, and could not believe my eyes. I was so tempted to buy one there, but knew there was no way I could fit one in my luggage. I had been buying Sideshow for years, yet somehow I never realised HT products were available through Sideshow, I am still kicking myself over this.

Well, when I saw the Mark IV, I just could not believe my eyes and jumped at the chance. The more I looked the more I fell in love with HT's products, I'd love to buy them all, but there is no way to do that financially. I could not wait so I added the Mech Test Tony Stark to my order.

Well, I got that today, and I am extremely impressed. I knew the detail was incredible along with the articulation, but I was surprised by the weight of the figure, it feels really solid and makes it even more impressive. HT's fig's really make Sideshows stuff feel like playthings. ;)

Well, let's hope I can continue to restrain myself from buying too many HT figures, but let me tell you, now that I have held one in my hands, it's hard.

Where the Hell have you been? ..... :nana:

Wow, Sideshow collector for years but only just discovered Hot Toys? I'd be kicking myself too :lol

The bright side is you didn't leave it any later, otherwise you'd have some serious grail hunting to do.

Congrats on your first Hot Toys figure!

The Mech Test Tony is a nice figure, i think my first Hot Toys figure was Hicks from Aliens...which i sold down the line due to some bills and now regret it but one day will have him again.

The rest of the Iron Man 2 line is awesome get some more!

Welcome aboard to the addiction train, once you get in, you'll never get out. ENJOY YOUR RIDE. MMMWAAAHHAHAHAHHAHAAA! >: )

Need sleep...

Ouch, you've started it, good luck stopping, eheh.

Thanks all for the encouraging words. ;)

I've already started thinking about cancelling Sideshow Orders to be able to afford this new addiction I feel creeping in. HT Figures I once looked at and thought were cool, but said there was no way I would buy them, are suddenly being considered.

Gammorean Guard was the first to fall to the wayside, and Greedo may be next. When I compare Sideshow and HT (I know, apples to oranges really) and take into account Sideshows constantly excalating prices, I find myself asking why would I pay $120 for Sideshow, when HT's stuff is lightyears ahead and only (relatively) a little more? Don't get me wrong, I buy Sideshow for the License's they have, but two years ago I probably wouldn't have even considered collecting Iron Man, but for some reason, I find the figures irresistable.

If only I had been aware of their product when they made the Mark I! I still salivate over that one, but not enough to pay the aftermarket prices.

Anyway, I think I have moved into the acceptance phase of this addiction, as I am running to Ikea tomorrow to buy a Detolf to display them.

Once you start comparing prices it doesn't really make sense to skip on HT products. Don't get me wrong, there are some gems with Sideshow's offering especially that in their Joe line.

Yeah, it's a funny transition and I'm not sure how it happened with me. Last year I was vaguely aware of action figures that cost over 100 dollars and was immediately dismissive - 'No WAY would I ever fork out that much cash for a toy!'.

And here I am. I'm not a big collector by any stretch - around one figure a month is my budget - but nowadays I don't see $150 being too much to pay for a well detailed, beautifully crafted and tailored figure.

You'll have about 30 more HT figures by next month...:)

Ditto. I was always turned off at these $100+ figs. Now, any HT under $130 is a steal, lol.

Be prepared to deal with this addiction . you might not be able to sleep , you will think about the next figure you want while at work . As many as you could possibly afford , WILL NEVER BE ENOUGH to satisfy this addiction . once you buy a hot toys figure , you will buy them for life ....... i think we need a treatment program like the drunks and drug addicts have :lol

I honestly think Hot Toys mixes the lead in the paint with the chemicals that Kentucky Fried Chicken puts in their original reciept.

Oh well, welcome to the crack shack.
