I bought the windlass/sideshow metal MARK III HELMT years ago and loved it for the real metal look and feeling. But it had some designproblems that are disturbing me.
So I started a mod to make it more accurate.

Here the helmet out of the box with the mistakes that I upgraded.

So the helmet needed a new lower jaw with the right shape and a correct cut out in the middle. The new part is glued in with JB WELD Car 2K glue..very hard stuff from the USA.
After that I brushed the upper and lower faceparts and polished it.At the end I cutted out the black inside part of the eyes and added EL-sheeds in both eyes for the light up effect.

And here is the new helmet..hope you like it(the blue light look of the eyes in some pics, is only from the camera..in person its very bright white):

And here with a shot of the original helmet from the movie(yes, the eyes on the little pic are painted..hehe..because the light kit was not installed at this moment):

Thanks.Yes,I love museums replicas, because the pieces are a good base for my mod projects.:wink1:

That looks great! I have the Mark II and was thinking I would like to mod the brow to make it more curved. Any recommendations on how to go about this?

That's a night and day difference. If I were to have seen just the unmodded helmet I'd have been pretty happy with it's appearance but seeing them side-by-side, there's no comparison. Really great work, looks totally professional.

Thanks guys...happy that you like it.:yess:

@lamtsunfung:please post a pic of your helmet and show me,what you wanna upgrade exactly.
