so.........i just received this awesome piece today from the man joe dunaway himself. major props to all of his skills, this is my 4th piece from him. for those that dont know much about this, it was sculpted by the great narin, prolly his best work so far imo, and the base this guys stands on is prolly the best pred base out of any piece to date of anything related. i felt like a surgeon unwrapping all the tiny pieces that comes with this, not including the things already glued in place before hand.

as one can tell, i wanted a mostly blue theme, and joe pulled it off going with a silver w/ blue tint that has a weathered look to it as well. at first, joe had a hint of light blue to the fore head, but he just didnt look as mean to me with that coloration, so i had him make it a more realistic skin tone to his head, which i think looks much better that way, but u be the judge

Narin never makes an alien standing on a pile of dead predators.

i call shenanigans.

hayes made a predalien standing on a dead pred head though :naughty the thing that gets me though, is the alien gue in the aliens mouths and on the base, joes pics show it better. great effect to it

Wow, that is an incredible piece!!! Looks like it was well worth the wait.

What is that, 1/6 scale? Looks pretty big next to that Morgul Lord there

hes 16 inches on the base, so that sounds about right...........a lot of narin kits are 1/6, i have the chopper that comes in at around 12

This is my favourite Narin piece largely due to the base. I love it but hate that Narin insists on not sculpting Predator netting - they just dont look the same without it and I'm not keen on Joe's blue paint-schemes he always tends to apply (if its the same Joe I'm thinking of?).

It sure it one helluva peice of work though but cant believe you didnt wanna paint it yourself? The mod you did seemed good so why not paint the whole thing yourself?

this is his first blue armor pred i have ever seen..........u must be thinkin of a different joe........check out www.modelzone.com mine is his 6th DW :monkey5

No, it's the same Joe Dunaway, I've been on that page before. His colours arent movie-accurate and he uses a lot of cold colours like blues and pinks (not the armour, I meant the skin).

Not everything needs to be movie accurate though... I mean, we've only seen how many individual Predators out of what is supposed to be a whole race?

Besides, I remember a few of the P2 Lost costumes having 'cold colors' to them.

...and I'm sure if Joe was asked by a costumer to specifically paint up a kit to movie accuracy he'd do it... in fact, my S. Hayes Stranger (Predator 2 Elder) kit I sent to him back in January I asked for a straight forward accurate paint up, and I know when I get it back I'll have just that.

As far as me not painting my kits myself.... some people, like me suck at painting. I mean, I could try to do my own tattoos too, but I'm sure I'd suck at that too, sometimes people feel more comfortable going to a Pro.

seems like that depends more on income level than skill. at least in my case.
i taught myself how to paint kits because it's prohibitively expensive to pay a pro for the work.

WOW! Congrats my friend. That is a beautiful piece. Joe is a the top of his game. His work is, stunning. One of the best out there. Money well spent IMO.

Does anyone know why Narin never sculpts the netting then? Without it the preds look like alien barbarians. He also never seems to sculpt them with masks on or at least rarely anyway.

i think the point is to make them alien barbarians. this one doesn't seem to have any tech on it at all, let alone netting.
it's like if Predator took place in the bronze age. which is sort of a neat concept.
