I wouldnt normally make a thread about something like this. In this case however I had to make an exception. I've been waiting on this for about 5 months now. One of my many "other" hobbies is astronomy which I've always been fascinated with. My Celestron CPC800 telescope 50th anniversary edition showed up at my door a few days ago. I know this site is reserved for limited edition collectibles and things like that....but I felt this kinda fell into that category. This telescope is limited to only 300 pieces world wide (so its sort of a collectible). Comes with built in GPS, 3 servo motors which scew the scope to whatever star, constellation or celestial object that I key into the hand control. What makes this scope a little more special than the other CPC series scopes is that its the only one to be made with a carbon fiber tube and gold plated eye pieces. I finally got to take it out and use it a little tonight. I've been so busy with work I didnt even opend the box 4 days after I got it. Anyway, I managed to take a few quick shots and thought I'd share.

I am guessing that you can probably see into my window with that thing. I will be checking the porn sites now to make sure that i have not become a "star".:D

What type of distance do you really get with this telescope?

Congradulations on getting an awesome telescope.:clap

I've been wanting something similar, but I live near too much light. Its hard to look at the night sky, without having alot of light interference.:(

Congrats! Can you hook up a camera to it and take pics of the stars? If so, I would love to see what that badboy can do.
Yes you can hook up a camera to this scope for some astrophotography but thats a whole other ball game. Not really interested in that right now. Maybe later on though.

Its not a matter of "distance" or "magnification" with a telescope. Whats important is apature. The bigger the apature the more light gathering ability the scope will have which means the more you will see. But if you want to know the max magnification this can reach its over 420x....again that doesnt really mean anything though.

:wave:wave:wave:wave

He is gonna need a hell of a telescope to see through the pollution hovering over Toronto.:nana:

Thats why I have to drive 2 hours north to get some good clear sky and no light polution :wink1:
