I don't give out too many four star reviews in any given year. Maybe a dozen for the whole year, fifteen tops. Out of the more than 150 reviews I do, which can cover as many as three or four hundred different action figures, there are only a handful that really deserve top honors. And the Hot Toys Robocop is one of them. This guy is amazing, and once you have him you'll never go looking for another sixth scale Robocop again. Is he really worth the high price? That's a tougher question, and it's still best if you don't spend too much time thinking about how much he cost you.

The guest review is from Jin Saotome, master customizer, and covers the new Batman and Azrael from the DC Superheroes line. You can find all the reviews at the usual:

Great review and terrific pictures to boot!!!! I can't wait for mine to arrive. I'm going to have to e-mail or call Corner Store Comics again if I don't get charged soon. The way they phrased the last e-mail, it sounded like I should've been charged last Monday or Tuesday!!

It's just frustrating because this really seems like it'll be the jewel of my collection, and I can't wait to have it in person!! :)

Wasnt the mask removable??? I've seen his whole face in another thread if I remember correctly...Cool figure....ED-209 will be awesome..Another hit by Hot Toy...

They sculpted an entire generic face but glued the helmet in place. My guess is so it would up the ante on the realism. If you look at any shots where you are looking up at Robocop, you can see there's a face under the helmet.

The reason it's not a full-blown removable helmet is due to not having likeness rights.

Supposedly, it's possible to "break" helmet off in a way where it's still intact but now removable. Personally though, I'm not going to risk that with a $120+ figure.

I've read the review, and at a point, the difficulty of assembling the figure is mentioned. Water with dish detergent would allow the joints to pop in a little easier. What would happen if oil would replace the detergent? Would the oil destroy the plastic over the years? Detergent dries up after a while, but oil would stay on longer, perhaps allowing to take the figure apart again, if this is desired.

Another option that's been presented has been using hot water or a hair dryer to heat and soften the pegs enough for easy assembly. That'll be the road I take if necessary...especially with the head because those rings on the shoulders are easily breakable so I want the head assembly to be as unobtrusive as possible.

Yes, but keep in mind that softening the ball and joints makes them easier to break when pushing them together. I'd be very careful with that solution as well.

Oil is certainly an interesting thought, such as a light grade machine oil. I don't believe that hurts rubber...anyone?

Actually, he shouldn't be. Weller isn't a big guy, and I just watched the movie again, not a half hour ago. (It just happened to be on Encore!). He was about the same height as everybody else, even in the Robocop outfit.

Didn't know that. Thanks for the heads-up, Michael. What would you suggest for attaching the head so I don't risk damaging those rings (besides taking my time...that's a given).

For starters, avoid putting your hands on the rings when holding on to the torso. That will pretty much take care of the issue, but you also don't want to squeeze the torso too much when pushing the head on. That will be your tendency, but if you realize it while you're doing it, you'll be much more likely to have few issues.

Thanks for the advice. :) I'll be keeping it in mind when the time comes.
