Hmmm - two Sideshow reviews in a row. I have to warn you, there will be a number of them coming up over the next few weeks, because SS is shipping a ton of stuff right now.

Tonight's review covers their latest Premium Format figure (well, the T-800 is out too...but I don't have mine yet...and I'll cover the Mystique PF soon as well), their Slave Leia. After the amazing Indy, I suspect my expectations might be a bit skewed...but then, if they can do it once, why not every time?

She's not terrible, but she's not quite as good, particularly in terms of her head sculpt, as I'd like.

I also have a guest review up from Jeff Parker, who is looking at another set of the Hot Toys Cosbaby figures: Edward Scissorhands. You can find all the reviews at the usual:

Thanks for reading!

As wonderful as the subject is, there is always something slightly "off" for me about these PF figures and this Leia is no exception. Fair review, Michael...

Pretty fair review, I'm really happy that I have her in my collection. I have to say though, that last picture on the review page with the darker lighting really brings out the likeness the most that I've seen. Really nice shot man.

Thanks Mike for the review, the paintwork on your figure doesn't appear nearly as bad as some that we have seen here; particularly the eyes.

Still this just doesn't have a "must-have" nature to it.

While some really like it or are willing to look the other way due to the character this really feels like a missed opportunity on SSC's part when it comes down the HS, the rest of it looks and sounds perfect....

i thought the same thing, the eyes dont look as crappy in Mike Crawfords pics as they do in some pics posted here. argh! now i want one!

this thing doesn't look like carrie and at $250+ there's no excuse for it.

Good review, very fair and I am getting one. I think this is probably one of the close sculpts to looking Carrie out there right now.

Great review MC...I still regret cancelling her, but other pre-orders had to come first...Again sweet review...I gave it a 3 rating..

It's a really cool review Michael, like usual. You got the the right grading for this statue which is not what I expected alas.

MC, that last photo you took of her at the bottom of the page with dramatic lighting makes her look pretty good.

Do you think the likeness is weakened because her head maybe slightly too large?

I think that looking at this picture, that the sculpt was intended to be inaccurate DELIBERATELY in order to be flattering. However, it seems like the neck is too short and the head is perhaps a bit too large.

Yep, I think the head is a bit large for the body - and the eyes are clearly too big.

It's certainly better than the Koto attempt though, and I like it better than GG's work. And let's not forget that Crumb is great :)

I didn't think Sideshow used catch lights for their PF's that is odd, and as you pointed out in the review if 1/6 companies can have more realistic sculpt, paint and movable eyes for less money it might be time for the PF's to step it up.

Although from photos this still looks pretty nice, but could be better.

Not sure about that. PF Leia has HUGE anime eyes in a bad way (and don't get me wrong I love anime) or sometiems Marty Feldman eyes . Even Kotobukiya managed to make the eyes better. Plus the chain on Koto is more accurate than both GG and PF. I have the GG version as well as Koto, but passed on the PF with no remorse.

The Koto version is a terrible pose. GG's does improve on that, but I'm just so tired of the captured submissive look. I much prefer what SS did with this pose.

However, I really only need one Leia PF in my display. It's going to be a tough decision at some point as to which one is going to go.
