My vin diesel custom 1/6 xxx steps/ in progress pics!!

THE TATTOO LOOKS REALLY CRAPPY ON THESE PICS IT DOES NOT LOOK THAT BAD TRUST ME !!!!!

Hi guys this is my 1/6 scale custom figure of vin diesel from xxx ( triple x ).
I will post in progress pics as i go on and this will also be a type of tutorila on how to build your own. I think vin is a really cool guy and i really liked this movie although alot of people didn't! .
Ok so ...
I purchased the head from ebay already painted and there quite cheap , i think the paint job is decent and the sculpt is great!. There are none on ebay at the minute but when they show up again i will give you a link to the seller.
I was really scared to do his tatoo but its an iconic part of him in the movie so it needed to be done. I have barely any customizing skills so painting over the head was out of the question for now. I simply went to youtube and brought up the first scene which is here ...

At the begging it shows a clear view of his tatoo and by simply pausing it i could copy it on to his neck. I simply bought a black , blue and red pen and copied carefully the tatoo on to the back of his neck. Its no where near perfect but im still learning around stuff like this so don't be harsh! .

The head simply fits on to a dragon body and i used a heat gun ( or you can use a hair dryer ) to soften it so it would pop on instead of squeezing it on.

I bought a sideshow stand which i luckily found at a local store but you can pick them up on ebay also and many other sites , just look around or even use an old stand.

I purchased some dark green gloves by mistake as i found a funny looking screen shot that turned out not even to be him but i painted them black with acrylic paint and they look ok. He didn't actually wear gloves much ( if not at all ) in the movie but i think he looks better with them.

For clothing i will be using a pull over sweater i picked up that was perfect for him ( i am trying to get him in clothing with as much likeness to the last scene on the submarine ).

I will dye it black soon. Next we will add the body armor over the top of the sweater.

Great start to a great movie figure. This is a great movie, it's so over the top.
The producers never tried to hide this fact, just a good old fasioned action movie. Spies, women, Fast cars, guns, submarines, music and of course Samuel L Jackson

This figure is looking awesome so far, great work on the neck tattoo. I have learnt never to judge figures by photos only because seeing them in the flesh always shows the true nature of the work off.

Keep up the good work, can't wait to see the updates and the finished figure.

Its a good start but i think a diffirent body would be much better than the shorter dragon one.

I agree with the last post, use another body, it looks disproportioned...but the head looks great!

thanks for all the kind words guys , I actually forgot about this .
The thread that is , not the custom work. I am thinking of painting over the xxx tattoo but honestly it does look pretty good , the flash on that pic really brought out as much crapiness as it could .
Now about the body , since you guys recommend changing it and since I want the best I can get from this custom I will. I'm no good with bodys and stuff and since im in the uk my main supply for all this stuff is ebay , it does the job. Is there a certain body you would recommend getting ? .

Watch ebay for hot toys bodys in the Uk, sometimes theres none but then one day there might be 5 and you'll be able to pick one up for a good price maybe even a musclular one.

would the head need modifying to fit a hot toys body , it said on the sale it was designed for a dragon body ?.

It should work on the old style HT neck posts, but not the newer ones with the joint at the top of the neck.

well I could pick one of these up but if I did it would basically with a bit of heating up slip into a hot toys body right and would't require any tools ?.
