Just caught an afternoon showing of NT:The Book of Secrets.

I thought the first film was pretty good... I enjoyed the acting, plot and action sequences. I know the film was not an Oscar contender but I thought it was good dumb fun.

If you liked the first film you will likely be entertained by the second. DO NOT go into the film looking for a realistic story. The film is filled with chase scenes and break-ins with no police response. If you go into the film wanting some good dumb fun you won't be dissapointed.

If you did not like the first film you will definatley want to skip the second.

Also, My wife is absolutley in love with the first film (totally weird) and she really liked the second.

We are going to see Sweeny Todd tonight and I am really excited.

I agree 100%. I just don't know when I'll get to see Sweeny Todd though. Got that and AVP:R to see in the next few days.

The most unbelievable part for me was the French Statue of Liberty. I had to look it up when I got home, and sure enough it was real. :lol Don't know how I missed that when I visited Paris. Sure it is small, but something so "American" surely would have stood out to me.

Saw it tonight and liked it a lot. In some ways it was better than the first, with slightly fewer twists and turns along the ride. It just seemed to make the pacing work a bit better. I also liked the setup for NT3. I hope this one does well enough to make another 'episode' a possibility.

I also really liked the new Goofy How-To cartoon that played with it. It was very well done, completely in the style of the classic Goofy How-To's, but with a contemporary subject. I hope it's on the Blu-ray when it gets released next year.

Now, how to convince my wife to see Sweeney, rather than having to wait for the DVD release...

DONT TAKE YOUR WIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I went from Awesome Husband (took wife to lunch and NT2) to A-HOLE Husband (went to Sweeny).

Sweeny is very violent. Way more than I predicted. I loved every min. of it but my wife is not even talking to me at the moment. She does not handle violence well and I convinced her to go and now she hates me. LOL I guess I will just have to settle for porn and a party for one tonight.

Saw it last night with my family. Really liked it a lot. Its not quite as good as the first one but its a heck of a fun ride and very much worth seeing. I thought the pacing and all that jazz worked quite well. The only thing I could have been left without is the damn cartoon at the start. That kind of slowed things down IMO.

exactly....i was really pissed. by the time we got through the stupid previews and the cartoon i was already ready to leave. i didnt like the stupid cartoon the least and it was very annoying to put in front of NT2. they should have left it in some other cartoon/ kids movie.
~~on topic---i loved the movie and thought it was awesome. diane kruger is so HOT!!! and the ferrari was great too. i liked the plot, but felt it was stretching a little bit too much. but either way it worked and thats all that is important. hopefully they will make a third movie.

i have not seen the movie yet but the idea is original because if you study history you will know that there are really 18 pages missing from jwb diary....i am not sure if i will go see it. my money is on avpr

Maybe you can make it up to her when Mamma Mia! opens.

I don't know Mama Mia like I know Sweeney Todd, but with Meryl Streep how bad can it be?

Well, let's just say we disagree then. There wasn't anything annoying about the cartoon, and most of the people in the audience when I saw it really enjoyed it. It clearly wasn't a cartoon aimed at children. How many kids would get most of the sight gags, or even understand what HDMI is (and yes, in case you missed it, HDMI was one of the buzzwords the narrator threw at Goofy)?

I thought is was extremely well done, and a great 'prelude' for the movie.

We'll have to completely agree to disagree then. Cause that cartoon was annoying and took up time that could have been used to get into the movie. It was pointless and didn't fit with everything else. It was like hey lets stick a goofy cartoon in this and see what happens. There where 4 of us in ages ranging from 22-54 and we all thought it slowed the pacing from the PV to the movie down too much.

Well, for what it's worth, you are in the extreme minority in your dislike of the short. It is getting amazingly positive reviews almost everywhere, and your (and hairlesswookie's) comments are the only real negatives I've read anywhere.

Also, the short was originally planned to precede Enchanted, but that plan got changed. I'm not sure why. It might have been that it wasn't quite ready in time, or that the Disney people felt it would play better with a slightly more "adult" film, since the short is aimed squarely at adults.

It is also a significant milestone for Disney, since it was done in an almost paperless environment (something Disney has never been able to do before in their 2-D animation). It was a test of some groundbreaking new software, to see if it could be used to create a short that was identical in style to the shorts produced in the 1940's without the time and labor-intensive tasks previously required. Its success is expected to be used as a springboard for a resurgence of Disney animated shorts being attached to theatrical releases of their films.

So, you'd probably better either get used to it, or get used to annoying disappointment.

I loved the short and I am also a fan of the pixar shorts as well. I would love it if Disney started this trend again and had a short with all of there major motion pictures.

Howerver, I am very curious of WHY Disney made the short. I am sure the cartoon cost a pretty penny to make. How does Disney cash in on their shorts???

It was a test, a "prototype" of sorts. They wanted to see whether their new software would allow them to produce shorts that compared favorably to their classic shorts, but also allow them complete the shorts more quickly and at a much lower cost. From what I've read (and what we saw on the screen) it was a success on all counts.

I've also read that the software is going to be used to train a whole new generation of Disney artists in the 2-D realm. I'm really excited about this.

Well, I'll be in the extreme minority then cause it was a total waste of time. It came out looking great but didn't add to my experience at all. I went to see NT2 which is a semi-action flick not a goofy cartoon.

Now, if it had played infront of that it would have made more sense. I didn't feel it was aimed at adults at all other than it was him buying a home theater system. Which I don't see being all that aimed at adults other than I was waiting for the Best Buy logo to appear at any point.

So, you'd probably better either get used to it, or get used to annoying disappointment.

Guess I might not go see as many Disney made flix then. If I want to see cartoons then I'll go see a cartoon movie but please keep these away from my live action stuff. Cause this was a killer for the pace from the PV to the movie.
