Need help with a 1/6 scale Hoth hat

Hey everyone! I am very new to customizing SS figures and I am wondering if anyone is able to advise me on how to make a custom hat for my Hoth Han Solo? I am doing a lot of work to my Han with the pieces from the 12" hasbro figure but the hat just isn't cutting it.
