What I ended up doing was taking a template from another boardie in the Joker thread. Scaled the money down to where it looked about right and printed the money. I then measured a strip of paper the size of the money (the 8.5 length). I was able to get about 9 pieces of paper. When you fold them you get 18. This pieces don't have any images since they are just the filler. I then cut the piece with the money image and placed one on top and the other at the bottom. The band I also got from the same thread. I used a glue stick to glue the band to the bottom of the money. I wrapped the band around the money and cut off any excess. I then glued that end to the bottom of the money. That's probably not very clear is it?
This isn't the best picture and there is a lot more money now. I put together bundles here and there so it doesn't seem like too much work.

Check out this review from the great Micheal crawford site.
This figure comes with a whole duffle bag of fully printed notes in bundles.
"there are stacks and bundles of $100’s each note is printed front and back and each bundle has about 20 notes, you get 12 bundles per stack with 5 stacks in total, making a cool $120000.00 in total… nice."

I'm (probably) the boardie JacktheRipper mentioned. :) Here's the link to the bundlestrips I made with paint.net, in case you don't have that yet (I tried to match them to the real thing, according to pics on google):

I didn't use placeholders in the bundles though and printed every bill (although only the first and last bill in a bundle is in color). Guess I thought when I'm already doing all this work, I might as well make it as detailed as possible (without wasting too much expensive printcolor).

Here are some example pics of my finished bundles:
