It's all my fault. He is just over 8 months old so you can imagine his innocence and lack of maturity and the tendency to be mischievous. Just by that virtue, he had dug a trench underneath our gate from where he could escape in the area outside. His brother Ace can't do so owing to his heft. Since the last few days, he has been running out using that trench whenever I let him out in the yard to relieve himself or just to play. We were gonna bury that trench and install a wire mesh extending below the gate to help curb his habit of digging below it. While we had made some temp. measures, I had left the main work for later as I was finishing some garden work. This is where I went wrong.
Last night, after their dinner, we left them both loose to let them have some fun as well as get over with their p00ping duties. I went in to have dinner myself and got busy with other stuff. Thought of having a look over 'em after a while and to leash them since it was getting late. I called out to them and while Ace promptly showed up, Bruno didn't and I realised that he might have escaped outside again. I reached over to the gate and there he was right outside it. I called him but he didn't even respond by lifting his head and just laid there panting heavily. I opened the gate to let him in but to my utter shock saw his hind legs drenched in blood. I kid not guys; I literally got a cold shiver and felt my knees going weak. He is still a puppy and these couple of strays had completely mauled him - on his legs, thighs, toes and neck. I just couldn't stand the sight of him laying there helplessly, not even uttering a slight wail. I tried lifting him up and it was then that he let out a loud cry; the sound of which has been ringing in my ears ever since.
Those ****ing things even fractured his front leg....*******. If only I had finished meshing up the gate earlier, he wouldn't have been in such a painful situation today. They messed him up real bad guys. ****, his tendons and leg muscles are all exposed. I cant even start to imagine how scared he must have been when those ravages ganged up on him and I feel so guilty for not being there for him. If I had rounded them up a wee bit earlier, he wouldn't have ran out. ****. I can't even look him in the eyes - so much full of pain and questions.....
Please guys, please pray for him to get well. I'm trying my best.\
