They have been up for preorder for awhile. I hope they start shipping soon. My only complaint... the breast size is ridiculous.

Ah crap! I just noticed that the ankles aren't CG/PB style joints. Meaning you're going to have a hellva time finding shoes/boots for them. Unless Triad rolls out a new set of footware before the bodies come out.

She's got ankles?

:monkey3

(Wonder how the Hasbro Slave Leia costume would look on her...)

I'm curious as to how this would compare to the Cy Girls body I just won on eBay:

Cy Girls auction

I think I'm going to try and work something out between a good Slave Leia head and maybe some parts from the Kyoto Leia. Steal some of Adam's ideas for the Leia he did.

Those are nicer than I'd thought they were going to be. But the breast size isn't appropriate for most characters and the lack of torso articulation limits her flexibility.

oh well. :(

Heres a FAQ on the body from the Triad forums.

What height are they ?

They are 10 and 7/8 inches tall without shoes (as pictured), which is the exact same height as your Takara CG if they had feet.

Can the heads and hands be interchangeable with other figure manufacturers such as Takara, BBI, Soldier Story, Aoshima, etc.?

Yes, the head and hands are easily swappable with other manufacturer’s parts and vice versa. So you can use a Otaku head on a CG and a CG head and hands on the Otaku body just fine.

How many styles of hands does she come with? Does it come painted?
She comes with three pairs – a slight pistol grip, fists and relaxed pose hands. Yes all the hands are painted. We even glossed her fingernails too.

Does she have double-jointed knees and elbows?
She has double jointed elbows and single-jointed knees.

They come with magnetized feet? What’s that for?
All new Triad bodies and boot/shoefeet have the magnetized feature because we have developed a series of stands temporarily called the “bullet time” series which lets you hold better poses than the traditional stand around the waist with both legs on the ground type of stands.

Will the Otaku ankle be able to use Takara or Triad bootfeet?
Yes. The Otakus will take both the Takara and Triad 1.0 bootfeet. We will be releasing the Triad 2.0 bootfeet, shoefeet, and different styles of feet and heeled feet in the coming months and both the Triad 1.0 and 2.0 bootfeet will work with the Otaku and Takara bodies.

Is the torso made out of hard plastic or soft silicone?
It is cast in a rigid translucent PVC and cannot be moved. The Otaku body is made primarily for looks and is best in prone or standing poses.

Can you change out the torso? If not, will you be offering other bust sizes?
No, you cannot change the torso. We have no plans at this point to offer different bust sizes, but that may change depending on our future projects, but currently this is the only bust size for all three skintones.

How many skintones will there be? And when will they be available?

There are three different kinds – Caucasian, Hispanic, and Pale (much more lighter shade of Caucasian). The Hispanic and Pale skintones will be offered a few weeks to a month apart. They are in production now.

Are there any major differences in design between the three skintones?

No, they are the same head with the same body, but painted and casted differently with different colored hair and styles. Their bikini colors are also different.

What is Saran hair? Isn’t doll hair just doll hair?

No, there are many grades of synthetic doll hair. Saran hair is a type of Japanese hair manufactured (as you can guess) in Japan. They are much smoother and silkier. It is the same material that most customizers use to root their doll heads. Most manufacturers will not use this type of hair because it is imported from Japan and the cost is significantly more. Saran hair can withstand extreme levels of heat. Cheap hair can bleed and warp. You can test your hair strength by putting a lighter to it. The faster it burns up the cheaper the hair is. We’re sure you’ve seen doll hair that is so rigid you can sweep your floor with it. Saran hair is almost as soft and thin as real hair. It’s the “good” stuff.

Does this Caucasian body match the skin color on my Triad DX heads?

Yes, it is made specifically for that purpose. Almost all of our new items are done with a similar technology so you will see more of the translucent skins.

Will the Triad DX heads fit properly on the Otaku bodies with no modification?

Regardless of what body is used, the Triad DX heads need a little work on your part. They are cast in high-grade resin for its durability and translucent properties. Because they are rock hard resin, they are a lot more durable and will not warp like vinyl. However, they are not easily popped on and off like vinyl heads. A little piece of double-sided tape wrapped around the neckpin of the body will do magic for DX heads.

How limited a quantity are they? Will they be a regularly stocked item?

Each skintone is limited to only 1000 pcs. only. We are not sure if they will be produced as separate bodies like this in the future so if you want a loose body as is, then we suggest that you pick up as many as you can because we do not currently have plans to re-release them as nude bodies like this. All of our new projects are full boxed figures. If you don’t want to pay for loose parts or buy the entire box figure, this is your best chance to do so.

Is there a limit to the preorders? Can I order as many as I want?

Yes, you can order as many as you want. There is no limit to the preorders, however, remember that there are only 1000 made so between our retailers and other customers, they will quickly sell out.

I placed a pre-order for them. When will I be charged?

If you placed an order for just the Otaku preorder, it will be charged when it is shipped. However, if you placed an order for several in stock items and only one preorder of the Otaku, the entire amount will be charged so we can ship your instock items out. That way your instock items won’t sell out when May comes around.

Can I get cheaper shipping? If not, can you just roll them in paper and put a stamp on?

Shipping charges are calculated directly via the various carrier’s websites – USPS, Fedex, UPS, etc. It is a fixed cost that we cannot do anything about. We do not charge any handling fees or anything. The rates are what they are. We will try our best to combine your shipments, but we can’t and refuse to ship them in a brown paper bag for you.

I don’t really like the shoulder articulation. That is a really noticeable joint on the shoulder. Why did you guys do it?

We went thru several versions and revisions on this body and our initial thoughts were the same. However, when you have the figure in hand and see it up close with its painted body and translucent skin, you will understand why it’s done this particular way. It is not as noticeable once you see it in person.

How come there is no hip or torso articulation?

As mentioned, the Otakus are made for a very specific purpose and genre. If you want more articulation, you can pick from the 7 other bodies we will be producing later this year so just wait a little longer.

Can the bodies be taken apart like Hot Toys bodies? Can the limbs be used on future Triad bodies?

No, they are made as a one-piece and not as “kits”. Our upcoming features will be more modular.

Are these bodies anatomically correct?

Yes. Just as military nerds moan about their guns, Otaku fans moan about the details on their bodies. If your question is whether they “function” then the answer is no. They are action figures, not sex dolls.

Why do the heads look all stylized with wide eyes?

Ahem, the name “Otaku” should tell you something. If you don’t like the head, remember that it can take on almost any 12 inch action figure head (as well as Barbies) as well. We have released several headsets as well as DX sets and we have an additional series of heads for the Otakus, Alphas, and Eva bodies coming out if you’re still not satisfied.

Will the current Triad Style clothing series fit my new Otaku body?

Yes and no. All current Triad Style clothing is made to fit the Takara CG 2.0 and Triad Alpha and Eva bodies. These three bodies are very similar in scale and proportion. The Otaku’s “massive” proportions will not fit most outfits. However, some outfits such as spandex suits and catsuits will work just fine due to the stretchiness of the material.

Will you be making Triad Style clothing for the Otaku? How about additional bootfeet, hands, heads, etc.?

Yes, we already have a wave of designs in production to prepare for the Otaku release. Bootfeet, hands, shoes, feet, heads, accessory sets, DX sets, you name it. . . it’s all coming.

Why are the Otakus priced at $29.99? I can almost buy two BBI Perfect Bodies for this price.

One important factor that everyone does not know about is: 1) you will see almost no seams on the Otakus whatsoever, and 2) they are not made from your standard hard plastic bodies. While the Otakus are made from PVC, they are rigid, but still have a slight rubber feel to them. The biggest difference also is weight. Almost all bodies currently out are hollow two pieces that are either glued or screwed together. The Otakus are casted as a one piece similar to resin dolls. Hence the better paint application, Japanese Saran hair, sheen texture of skin, seamless body, better durability, more weight, more expensive material = higher cost. Alternatively, you can always buy your two Perfect Bodies.

I really do not like the Soldier Story S1 bodies. Will these Otaku bodies suffer the same fate as my recycle-bin S1 bodies?

No. The S1 bodies is a Soldier Story OEM production body. They produced the body, hands and feet and oversaw quality control. Triad sculpted and produced the heads and packaging and distributed it. The Otaku bodies are 100% Triad manufactured from design, sculpting, paintwork, hair and fabric selection to packaging and quality control – it’s all Triad quality. You’ve seen and own our clothing line. Expect the same level of integrity.

So when will we see the other bodies you guys developed?

Soon.

Oh I get it, Otaku is more for people that want huge tittied anime chicks. I was trying to figure out why they'd have such an oddly proportioned figure.

Can't wait to see what the other releases are like.

I pre-ordered one. No idea what I'm going to use it for as it really isn't my cup of tea. Maybe I'll use it to resell, not something I normally ever do... but for some reason Triad doesn't respond to emails these days so I can't cancel my pre-order.

Why did you think they named it the Otaku body??? :lol :lol :lol

That looks threatning!

Actually, I believe they'd be your DD cup of tea.:monkey3

That's the problem. About the only think I can think of would be to do Berry Much (my own creation) but the head would be way weird to sculpt.
