After getting the King Kong Dvd this week, I was wondering if there is a possibilty of Sideshow to produce some more King Kong stuff.

Like a King Kong with Ann Darrow Polystone on top of the Empire State Building. Stuff like that, or like a model of the Venture ship that they traveled to the Island with.

I wouldn't expect Sideshow to get involved with Kong. Any future merchandise from the film will probably come from Weta.

And what ever happened with this piece:

From "The Encyclopedia of Arda"---

What were the names of the nine Nazgûl?

One of them, the second in rank after the Lord of the Nazgûl himself, was named Khamûl, and also known as the Black Easterling. This is the only one of the nine Nazgûl explicitly named by Tolkien.

This may come as a surprise if you've come across one of the many sources that list a set of names of the other eight: Murazor (the Witch-king himself), Dwar, Ji Indur, Akhorahil, Hoarmurath, Adunaphel, Ren and Uvatha. These names are common across the Web, and often have detailed biographies to go with them. They're also consistent with what Tolkien had to say about the origins of the Nazgûl: in the Akallabêth it is stated '...among those whom he ensnared with the Nine Rings three were great lords of Númenórean race', and indeed three of these names are Númenórean in form: Murazor, Akhorahil and Adunaphel.

None of these eight names, though, have their origins in Tolkien's own work. Instead, they come from a series of role-playing and trading card games produced by Iron Crown Enterprises. The names of Murazor, Dwar and the rest emerged from the unavoidable need for these games to develop and expand Tolkien's universe to meet the needs of the gaming fraternity. The games' popularity accounts for the regular appearance of the names, to the extent that they're now frequently presented as the 'true' names of the remaining eight Nazgûl.

Some readers have even suggested that these names are so widely accepted that they should be considered the de facto names for the eight otherwise unnamed Ringwraiths. On a personal level, or in the context of the games that spawned the names, this isn't an unreasonable approach: if Tolkien never told us the name of, say, the Witch-king, there seems little obvious harm in imagining that his name was originally Murazor (or anything else, for that matter). Things become a little more problematic where the names are published without explanation: we receive plenty of e-mail from puzzled readers trying to work out which of Tolkien's books the names come from (hence this entry in the FAQ).

,..no,..is not the same,..look at the size of the ship,..it's pretty obvious it couldn't fit that big monkey in there,... i mean,..it could barely fit the people!!,...

Well, you don't know what happened to the ship afterwards, they could have scrapped part of it in favor of Kong----"We're going to take out your room and throw it overboard so that we can take Kong home with us. Actually, we don't really need you anymore so you can leave also..."

Well, if Sideshow doesn't do anything, I sure hope that some company does.

We'll on disc 2 from the production diarees they were talking about kong 2 and 3 so if they make those 2 I think we can espect some new kong statue's.

King Kong - Son of Kong Summer 2006
King Kong - Fuhrer's Lair Winter 2006

I don't know.. The fact that Weta has dropped it's Kong statues by a mere 20-30% or so, doesn't make me believe that it went very well and therefore I can hardly imagine other statues coming out.. Kind of sux really.. first they upped that edition size of the big v-rex vs Kong statue with 1/3 and then later they drop the price again.. The world "collectible" doesn't mean poo anymore these days.. :(

,.....speaking of that ship,,,..how in the world they fit'd kong into that tiny little ship? ...

thats one of the questions that many people have asked since the original. Since it was never shown or addressed in the 1933 version, Peter didnt address it in the new one either.

I would LOVE for SS to do more Kong merch. and would probably buy all of it. Everytime I watch that movie I like it more.

Here's the updated Kong's Last Stand piece. I think I'll be ordering one very soon. Too bad they ruined the design on the Kong art print.

I understand Weta recently dropped their prices (wholesale) on Kong (and Narnia) products by about 30%, this doesn't bode well for any new pieces getting released. Guess they really miscalculated interest in these lines :rotfl

They should've stayed with LotR :banghead

And one last time, SS doesn't do Kong (except for that weird Armature thing), Weta did those.

yeah. by "more" i meant in addition to merch already out from WETA.

I have no problem with the low sales, it just means I may be able to pick them all up cheap soon :D

yeah, I agree, but I do like the new one too. That conceptual pic has more of a classic feel somehow.
I think Im gonna pick one up for my desk at work. Fireside has it for $140 preorder right now.

Wish there were more pics of the Kong sculpt though, thats the only thing that worries me a little.

I am not sure you have the right question. Weta put out most the Kong pieces, with the exception of the armature - and they did so without Sideshow. Were you thinking that Sideshow would release more of the vintage Kong items, or continue with the present line; say perhaps by trying to aquire the license.

PJ was faithful the original however, in panning immediately to New York ...

But if you want to know how Kong got there watch this - wait until the end:
