Background of the Crab Brothers:

上野達夫 (Ueno Tatsuo) was an experienced team leader of the Japanese Hokkaido Special Disaster Search & Rescue Team, nicknamed the Iron Clamp. He was sent on a rescue mission when a genetic mutation gas leak broke out at the Kobayashi Kaiyo Genetic Biotechnology Institute (KKGBI), where he met and rescued 堂本刃牙 (Domoto Baki).

Domoto Baki was a death-row prisoner. He was recruited by the KKGBI to transport the canned crab girl, a genetically engineered "delicacy" created by KKGBI and sold to the dark market, where it is extremely popular among cult groups and fetches wild price.

After being rescued by Ueno, Domoto found redemption and became Ueno's follower and assistant.

Like the other "Brothers", both Ueno and Domoto received gene modification. Ueno inherited the gene of Edward Teach (AKA Blackbeard), the infamous English pirate. Domoto accepted the gene of 服部半蔵 (Hanzo Hattori), the legendary ninja master.

The Crab Brothers 2-pack is limited to 399 sets worldwide. The canned crab girl expansion pack is limited to 188 units.

coz most of their figures have ultra high level of details, like multiple heads, multiple head parts, hidden inner parts like skull/brain/eyes/muscle and most of their bodies also come with alternate clear cover that displays detailed innards.

also the clothings/accessories are unique and quite detailed. one thing they slack on is probably the base stand (if there's any).

so far not many people collect them, those that do probably don't care about cost. i've only seen 1 guy from hong kong sharing his new Black 13 figures.

also these are limited release so back chasing them would be either impossible or super expensive.

It is a Chinese company, but the main artist John had studied and worked in Japan. Also as a lot of kids in Asia, he was deeply influenced by the Japanese pop culture when growing up. Another fun fact is that he was a Japanese chef, which may partly explain his enthusiasm in dissecting things.

The Brother series indeed features mostly the Japanese style, while the main series (Black Laborary) combines other elements such as steampuck, post apocalypse and Nordic style.

Black 13 Park is easily one of the most innovative and creative companies in the industry today. The brother series is more paired down in terms of accessories and display options than, say, Adrian the Bear, which would be about 2 levels above what other companies consider a DX
