Hi,

A couple of questions if i may.

On the sideshow website it was selling luke skywalker yavin 1v for around $56, how can i then buy him from amazon for only $30. This seems a low price for this figure? Have i just found a bargain?

Also i bought darth maul inclusive edition + droid expansion figures for $121 recently, is this a good price?

The main reason i ask about prices is that i love to collect these figures, but i dont want to be ripped off on the prices i pay.

Thanks all

That Darth Maul was a bit expensive, I have seen him go for alot less, and that Yavin Luke is not that great a figure, i have one as well, and yeah 30 bucks sounds about right.

Oh and welcome on Board dude!

Where do u see the prices of sideshow figures going in the future, do you think they are a good investment?

Like Ringer said, you can find Yavin Luke for below retail on eBay. Anything that you want that's below retail is good!

As for the Darth Maul & Droid expansion pack...as long as you're happy with what you bought, the price is right! :D

To keep from getting ripped off, just check SSC's site on prices and if buying on eBay just remember to compare prices, check the seller's feedback (received & left) thoroughly & their DSR ratings.

BTW...

Sideshow Star Wars 1/6 figures usually lose thier value, so I wouldnt justify the purchases as investments.

Its actaully kinda of good you get into the line this late, as you can find many figures below retail now. Which supports my above statement also.

Welcome and enjoy.

Also check the commerce section, there are always good deals on Sideshow Star Wars figures.

unless you really really want a 1/6 version of yavin luke, you can probably skip this one. Its a sub par figure even in the sideshow standard. Anyways, patience is a good virtue in this hobby, you can find almost all the SS SW figure at great bargain prices if you can wait. (since they do make a lot of them, supply is plenty)

Thanks for your replys guys, but i am confused. As a starting out collector, what you are all saying is that sideshow figures will only depreciate in value over time, therefore is there really any point in purchasing £40-£50 of figure only for it to be half this in a year or two's time. I thought collecting would increase in value over time noting limited numbers etc.

SSC's edition size doesn't really qualify their SW 1/6 figures as limited collectable IMHO. They are more like higher-end 1/6 toys when they start out, (right now it more like middle ground)

If you are thinking collecting for value, then HT is probably a better choice. They are more expensive for sure but they do retain their value better and some fetch higher price than their retail.

Of course, this is mostly apply to SSC's 1/6, their PF and other type of products tend to do better retaining values.

personaly alot of the time i dont look at value as much anymore, i collect because i have a love for it and buy the items i like because i like them, i dont buy them thinking they will be worth more in a yr or 2, it doesnt cross my mind really.

im looking at making my 1st sw sideshow purchase2, but im looking at goin for the sith rots exclusive anakin, cos i like the look of the figure
