Not sure if anyone pointed it out but in the last ask sideshow a few possiblities of upcomming figures were somwhat sugested.

Will Sideshow ever get to 12-inch versions of such “iconic” classic trilogy characters as Luke in his X-Wing outfit, Greedo, Tusken Raider, or even, should the company feel much more adventurous (i.e. beyond new head, hands or armor that is), definitive 12-inch scale version of characters such as C3PO, “enslaved” Leia or even Chewbacca? Vader and Stormtrooper were a huge relief to see after lots of prequel Jedi and fairly-cool-but-obscure militaries guys; does this signal that Sideshow will be doing more iconic classic trilogy characters soon?

Without getting too specific, several of the characters you mention are on tap for the 12-inch line. We are intent on releasing the core characters, interspersed with the more interesting and fan-favorite ancillary characters. We hope to keep the line ‘fresh’ for many years to come - not simply blast out all of the main characters in one shot!

From those that were listed in the question Greedo and the Tusken have been asked about around here for awhile now kinda like lando had been so I see them being very likely. I also asked in the stormtrooper section if anyone else thought that 3PO might not be to far off now that we have the armor body?

I'd love 3PO but think he will be on his own unique body. If anything I think we will see the Tusken and Greedo soon. If we do see the droids it will probably be at SDCC (but again, I doubt it).

Damn...thats a hard question.

Tusken, Biker Scout I seeing coming by the years end...SDCC Exclusive, usually Sideshow goes PT (2006 Anakin - Vader, 2007 Darth Sidious, 2008 Aayla)...I gotta go with TPM Obi, if OT - Greedo...

Well I think there still a bit of a long shot myself but more cause of R2 now then 3PO. As for him needing his own unique body I'll agree to disagree there I think if used right it could represent most of the version we see on film of 3PO. Most likely if they do him anytime soon it'll be an Ep.IV version which would only need the arm modified to be removed kinda like anakin to duplicate the tusken attack. Ep.V on the otherhand would need a compleatly difrent body if wanted to make a version of him could be blasted apart but cause of the way he spent most of the film I could see sideshow opting to do that as just a torso articulated at the shoulder and head to go in the net bag on Chewies back and the legs and other arm being done as static peices that way no need for an entire articulated body.

Anyway Greedo and the Tusken are still my bets as well. The other 3 listed in the question are no go's for obvious reasons chewie and leia are long ways off due to fur and decent female body and as for an x-wing luke... um no thanks my shelf has enough for the time being unless it's a trooper Luke & Han two pack otherwise I can wait a year or so for another version of him.

I say, Hot Toys does a R2-D2 with lights and opening panels and Sideshow does the Threepio with light up eyes..it comes as a set like Palpatine did and its a colaboration again by Sideshow/Hot Toys..definitely think this is a good idea..starting at $150.

Maybe add a magnetic restraining bolt for both as a exclusive, or net for Threepio(assuming we get Chewie)...just some ideas.

They probably would be an SDCC announcement.

I have never understood why people have believed Sideshow will never produce 3PO and R2. I boggles my mind that people believe a company would pay for a license and not produce some of the main characters. :google

Its not a question of "if" they will but "when" they will.

I'd go for either a Tuskan Raider or greedo....

I still would prefer Dooku, Anakin (TPM/AOTC), or TPM OB1. :monkey1

Because they can't right now.

Neither of those figures (or Chewie) fits into the profile of their 1:6 business model.

Sure, the armored troops and Vader didn't either until this year, but while it took 3-4 years for them to do those they're still not as much of a stretch as the droids & chewie would be for Sideshow. I love SSC, but I think the R&D, engineering and QC on these would be beyond their current capacity. They definitely should solicit Hot Toys for assistance on those, if they haven't already.

Over a Tusken Raider?? :thwak

Tuskens would be cool cause you could display them with Ben, Farmboy Luke or AOTC Anakin when he comes along.

Methinks Irish has lost his mind... While I love Tusken Raiders, I'd still go for a Dooku first if given the choice. With the PF still being pretty fresh I imagine it will be a bit before we see the Raiders in 1/6.

Time is about right for a Greedo though :rock
