I sure as hell don't remember anyone else having this problem and I sure don't remember reading any warning label. Went to heat up some water in my new spiffy Sideshow Collectibles mug tonight. Put it in my microwave for 1:15 and around a minute in I heard a pop. Went back into the kitchen to see my microwave smoking. This was the result............................

I wish I had a pic of the mug on fire but as you can imagine, putting it out was my first priority.

Soooooooooooooooo, can I have a new mug SS? :monkey2

That's an awesome picture!

Wendy's wraps their burgers in paper backed with a thin layer of tin foil. I went to microwave a spicy chicken sandwich not thinking about the metallic paper, and after a few seconds it looked like an early 4th of July party inside there. Smelled awful when I opened the door...

It's metal. What were you thinking? :lol

Apparently I hadn't inspected it that closely. I've had it sitting out but never grabbed it by anything but the handle (which is plastic). My mind is in a million different places and it didn't even occur to me to check for something as stupid as that. I guess my friend's not getting a free microwave when I move :monkey1

lol! i've done the same. :lol

In fairness, Sideshow did include a little piece of paper that CLEARLY said the mug was not Dishwasher OR Microwave safe. I sadly have to heat the water seperately for my Hot Chocolate and then wash it by hand when I am finished.

Hope they are somehow able to replace the mug though in exchange for the use of your pics. :lol

Fortunately I have a bigger and better microwave at the new house so I can enjoy a laugh with the rest of you about how absent minded I can be of late :lol

I'm sure that got thrown away with the packing material. Oh well, at least I still have my t-shirt :monkey3

What's the point of a mug that's not microwavable?
