I got a pair of Oakley Crosshair 2.0 polarized sunglasses as a gift recently and learned that they run about $240. Do any of you think these things are worth that kind of cash or have experience with Oakleys?

There is a huge difference between the regular and polarized lenses. I love oakleys and have since they first came out. They use to have insanely good CS (when you took them into the main office for repair) but still have good CS. I pay that kind of money for Oakleys all the time and feel they worth the money but I also know a lot of people who think I am crazy for spending that much money for the.

I would highly reccommend polarized over regular, I upgraded my Juliet's to polarized this summer (had them for 6 years and the old lenses had developed a couple of annoying scratches) - the difference is pretty drastic. The clarity of polarized lenses is just amazing.

I bought a pair earlier this summer. Customized to what I wanted them to look like. They're totally worth the money to me.

Personally I prefer Raybans for everyday wear. If it's for sports then Oakley all the way. I have a pair of each. I love my oakleys for hiking and such. My raybans are for style. Both are polarized and it's worth the extra dough.

Depends on if you are getting them for active outside use like sports/hiking/baseball/etc. etc. If that's the case then probably not as I'd be heartbroken if they got scratched or broken. Buy something cheap like Spy sunglasses. Half as much, and look good too.

For normal Joe Cool stuff, yes. Do it!!

I bought a pair of sunglasses at Walmart this summer and I couldn't be happier with them. $20.

You just named all the activities that are best suited for having polarized lenses. :rotfl

My prescription glasses I wear (mostly for watching hockey games or driving at night) are Oakleys. Great frames. Very solid and some of the better constructed frames I have ever had.

Oakley is the only glasses that I buy.

As for polarized vs non-polarized...depends on where you will use them. Most of my oakleys are all polarized for outdoor wear...but when im flying i can't wear polarized lenses because they distort the LCD screens in the planes.

My latest purchase...Oakley Pit Boss :rock

Thanks all, looks like most think that they are worth the cash (polarized if not the Oakley brand).

I did see the benefit this morning actually, its a rainy morning here and rather dark. I have black polarized lenses on the Crosshairs and I tried the glasses while driving just to see the impact - they improved visibility quite a lot by cutting light glare the rain was reflecting. So even with the dimming effect of the lenses (I think they are 14%), I could see better. I just worry something will happen to them, I had Oakley Whiskers (non-polarized) I had got for $80 and I had them in my pocket - bent over to pick something up one day and they pretty much disintegrated ;-(.
