Just came up with an interesting question. Do any of you ever feel obligated to get certain figures? For example, I'm sure there are several people who are getting all of the HT Avengers figures just to complete the line up even though they aren't crazy about all of them. Sorry if there is already a thread like this, but I'm just curious:wave

I'd like to think these things are too expensive to NOT actually care about the character/figure, still I know what you mean. I have HT Captain America TFA, Rescue Cap, Red Skull and Avengers Cap so now I'm feeling like if anything else Cap related comes out I kinda NEED to get it.

^^^ This. If you want the Avengers you have to get them all, even the ones you are less than crazy about getting *cough*Hawkeye*cough*.

I used to be an exclusive Star Wars toy buyer. Then about 3 or 4 years ago I bought a Sideshow GI Joe Firefly figure on EBay on a whim. Just because I thought it looked cool. I had regrets after the purchase of spending money on something I wasn't really in to. Then I got that ***** in my hands. It totally changed my collecting habits. Now here we are in March of 2013 and Friday I'm having Beachhead delivered to me and it will complete my set of Sideshow GI Joe figures up to date. All 25 of them. I got Firefly and told myself "I'm going to have every one of these produced" I don't now what the point of this post is. But depending on the collector: Toy collecting is comparable to a drug habit. You spend money you may not have to feed an addiction. At least I do. The payoff or "score" for me is hearing the UPS truck pull up out front. I open the box and see my new figure. Then I find a spot for it. And before I can even really take it all in and enjoy it: I'm thinking of my next score. :rotfl then the complex kicks in of "at whatever cost" I can't collect GI Joes "or whatever 1/6th line I'm in to" if don't have them all. Like even the lame Crimson Cobra Commander. I HAD to complete the set ! So I don't know if "obligation" is the right phrase so much as "uncontrollable desire"
