Official Madden 08 thread

Anyone pick up their copy yet? Looking for some first impressions and reviews from actual gamers on the Wii, 360 and PS3 versions. I will probably be getting the 360 version later this week.

The 360 version is supposed to be superior this year since it runs at 60fps vs. the PS3's 30fps. Anyway, I'm passing on Madden this year. Too many other good games coming this fall.

IGN gave Madden for the 360 a 8.7. I think I will skip this years as well. Bioshock is 7 days away.

Not if you love football. I like playing multiple seasons, making trades, drafing and so forth. Makes it a lot of fun.

Yeah, I read that review as well but was looking for some "fan" reaction. I like that the individual defensive player adjustments are back and that it plays more like '05 because it has really gone downhill for a few years. This sounds like an improvement over the last few years with a few relatively minor issues but wanted some feedback before I dive in. Just sucks that there is no competition anymore because 2k was making big strides to be the better NFL game, now there is no choice and you have to either take it or leave it.

You can thank the EA *******s for that. It's the same with NCAA football as well. And this is why I haven't purchased an EA Sports game for over 4 years now.

Monopolies suck. Especially when the company holding the monopoly is a lazy POS.

AMEN !! i havent played a single sports game they have produced since they bought the NFL rights eliminating competition. my roommate rented 2007 last weekend and i cursed him for putting it into my 360!!!

I broke down and bought it for the 360. I went to EB at lunch and they had a copy running in there demo unit. I couldn't pass it up this year. DARN!

It's a great game, got it for the 360 yesterday. Graphics wise, it looks pretty much the same as '07, but it flows much better than the previous versions and runs more smoothly (the running, tackling, catching animations are largely improved). The running game is improved, you just don't run into the line anymore and sit there if they don't open a hole, and the catching system is much more advanced (aka your receivers can't make catches that are like 5 feet from them anymore like in previous years) and the tackling is all new and looks amazing, especially when you lay a truck stick hit on somebody (and when they're in the air, it's even better). Give it a shot, great game.
