June is finally here, and you’re probably wondering what’s up with next year’s subscriptions. Well, hang on to your action figures’ hats, because we’ve got not one, not two, but three subscriptions for 2012!

About Club Lion Force
Remember when I told you awhile back that the Voltron® line was on its way? What I couldn’t tell you until now is that along with Club Eternia® and Club Ecto-1, we’ll also have the all-new Club Lion Force! Dedicated to that totally awesome ‘80s TV series, Voltron, all the Club Lion Force details will be announced at SDCC and right here in our News section on Thursday, July 21st. For now, here’s what you need to know: It’ll work exactly like Club Eternia and Club Ecto-1, where you’ll sign up in July for the 2012 subscription. And yes, there will be a club-exclusive item!

About 2012 Club Eternia®
Since 2012 is the 30th anniversary for Masters of the Universe®, we’ve got big things planned for the line! Details on the number of items and costs will be posted here at the beginning of July. Then, we’ll reveal all the details at the Matty Collector fan panel on July 22nd at SDCC and here in our News section after the panel -- including the club-exclusive figure and bonus map!

About 2012 Club Ecto-1
Thanks to an incredible showing by loyal Ghostbusters™ fans, the first year for Club Ecto-1 has been a huge success. In fact, the club is doing better than we ever dreamed so it’s a total “go” for 2012, too! Like Club Eternia®, we’ll divulge the basics in a few weeks, then all the details on July 22nd, including the club-exclusive figure. The one thing I will tell you now is that there’s something coming you’ve been asking for since the beginning. What could it be, what could it be??

Big Shipping News!
Knowing we’ll have three subscriptions for 2012, the team has been hard at work to make the logistics better than ever. For the first time, you’ll be able to order any number/combination of subscriptions from any of the three clubs and they’ll all ship together to minimize shipping costs!

Sales Dates
This year, the sale is scheduled to start on Friday, July 22nd at 2 p.m. PT (5 p.m. ET) and end on Friday, August 5th at 2 p.m. PT (5 p.m. ET). More details to come as it gets closer.

How Club Lion Force Works
When you buy a membership to 2012 Club Lion Force, you’re guaranteed to get all the official club figures released during the year – a total of 5 pilot figures in 3 ¾" scale and 5 Lion figures. That means you'll own all 5 lions needed to build the colossal 23" Voltron robot and all 5 pilots needed to complete the Voltron Collect and Connect™ light-up sword.
You’ll also receive the club-exclusive for 2012, Sven, the original pilot of the Blue Lion!
Approximately every 2-3 months in 2012 (starting in early 2012), you’re automatically shipped a Lion figure and its corresponding Pilot Figure. Figures are not billed until they are shipped.
Figures begin shipping approximately two (2) business days prior to the official on-sale date. Along with guaranteed figures and the club-exclusive, this is one of our members’ favorite benefits because they usually start getting their figures sooner than non-members!
Exact figures are announced approximately one to two months before each on-sale date.
The special club-exclusive figure will be shipped sometime around summer 2012. The figure is included in the cost of the membership ($15), however applicable shipping and taxes/fees will be charged at the time of shipment.

About Club Lion Force Memberships
Memberships are available for purchase from 7/22 at 2 p.m. PT through 8/5 at 2 p.m. PT here on MattyCollector.com.
Once the enrollment period has ended, memberships cannot be purchased until the following year.
Memberships are $15 each, plus the cost of the club figures, shipping, and applicable taxes/fees. The club-exclusive figure is included in this $15 membership fee, however shipping/taxes/fees are additional.
The total commitment for 2012 is $290, plus applicable fees/taxes and shipping (varies depending on your location and the shipping method you choose). You will be shipped 5 Lions (Red Lion and Green Lion, each @ $35 each = $70, Blue Lion and Yellow Lion @ $40 each = $80 and Black Lion = $50) plus 5 Pilots (5 @ $15 each = $75) and the Club-exclusive item (included in sign-up fee = $15) for a total of $290 plus shipping/taxes/fees.

Personally, I cannot wait for this line... I heard they'll be making a massive line of figure and Lions for this line! With Figure & Cat releases that will combine into a 23" Voltron!!!!

Mattel Rep on the Voltron Classics like from MattyCollector.com

...ALSO, though they had nothing on display, I was able to ask one of the Mattel reps about the new Voltron Classics line. I learned that it is coming in about 5-6 months, each lion will be around $30 each, with diecast parts, spring actions, articulated figures that fit in each lion, sold on MattyCollector.com, and fully combined into Voltron is over 2-3 feet! Also, each will come with a part to build the blazing sword!

They also mentioned that the classic Voltron toys will only be on Matty Collector at first, but once the new series toys hit retail for a little bit, they plan to start mixing the two at retail.

Personally, I think this is VERY exciting news... if they do both Cat & Vehicle versions of Voltron in the Classics line I'll be warpped! 2-3fts tall is massive!!!!

Club Lion Force details announced! It sounds awesome... and expensive! But for complicated robot toys and figures that are likely not going to share any parts (and hopefully be very articulated with some cool accessories) it's not so bad... and Sven IS the club exclusive!

Voltron® Fans,

The Voltron collector line has been revealed at SDCC and I can tell you we are now ready to officially form Voltron! Here's the big news:

For 2012, the Mattel Voltron line includes five Lions (black, green, yellow, blue, red) that form robot Voltron plus five Pilots in 3 ¾" scale (Pidge, Hunk, Lance, Allura, Keith). Staying true to the series, each release consists of a Lion and its corresponding pilot, so Keith pilots only the Black lion, Hunk pilots only the Yellow lion, etc.

Collect all five Lions and you'll have everything you need to build an enormous 23" tall Voltron figure! Each Lion converts from Voltron mode to Lion mode with a one-touch transformation feature, and comes with a mouth blade weapon. The Black Lion also comes with an additional blazing sword and shield. Collect all the Pilots and each one will come with a piece that creates a Voltron Collect and Connect® ultra blazing sword!

Every pilot comes with an alternate helmet head, and a key that unlocks the cockpit of their corresponding Lion and allows it to transform with one touch from Voltron mode to Lion mode. The key can also be used as a display base for the pilot figure. There's also an exclusive item available only to members of the Voltron subscription, Club Lion Force, but I can't tell you what it is until the Mattypalooza panel on Friday at SDCC.

Doesn't seem to be much love for Voltron on this forum?
But I for one have been really excited about this subscription ever since it was announced months ago and that I knew it would be a 23" figure! Now having seen the whole line! I am blown away by it!!! But I am not over whelmed with the paint apps to the lions... I saw this fan-art on the web this week I am considering using enamels to customize and bring this figure to more realistic look... What do you think? I won't if Frenzy Rumble & Dubcustomz would be interested in it?

I'm passing on the sub, honestly I don't have a need really for Star Wars sized pilots even if they do fit into the Lions. I will definitely be after the Lions but the blazing sword isn't really worth the $100 (Looking at the approximate $300 cost I'm assuming that the Lions are probably about $40 each and the pilots $15)

I did a sub. I was kinda on the fence about it but decided what the heck. I could live without the pilots really, but at least this way I'll be certain to get all the lions rather than risking missing sale day for a lion, it selling out (not likely probably, but just in case), and me not having the whole set to build Voltron. That would suck.

Also sucks that it won't be till almost December 2012 till we can put the whole damn thing together!

I'm really on the fence about getting a sub. This sub doesn't bother me like the Masters of the Universe one because I know exactly what you are going to get. I don't know if these will be cheaper on the secondary market. I do wonder if they aren't getting many subscription sign ups because the SDCC Blazing Sword Voltron is still available on their site.

I for one LOVE Voltron and am super excited about this. When I saw it at SDCC I damn near lost my mind and was drooling over it for a good 20 minutes. Needless to say, I've already signed up for my subscription and will be trying for a second set of Lions too!!

It looks like Matty upped the deadline another week for those of us on the fence about getting a subscription. I'm really torn about getting one. I collect MOTU Classics and I've never had a subscription. I just get much better deals off of ebay and people I meet on message boards. I'd hate to make a commitment and have them be easily available, especially with how expensive their shipping via stage coach is.

I think this line is well worth signing up the sub for... You know exactly what you're getting already and you get the Sub Exclusive Sven figure which is a big deal in my opinion! Its not like the MOTUC line (which I subscript to) Where you get the first Quarter and a half of figures and hope for the best for the rest of the year...

Also Matty's shipping is cheap, not quick but reasonable and you also get the figures at RRP.

I'm considering getting a second set of Lions to display between The Completed Voltron and the Pilots... But that's a lot of space and cash! So I'd be getting them separate at the time of sale... So we'll see.
