Basicaly this. she was apparently some sort of twi-lek nobility who had been sold into slavery. I don't remember the specifics. And jabba got tired of her resisting his advances.

The "in-story" answer is that she was resisting Jabba's lustful advances (although I'm not sure what exactly he was planning to do to her).

The real-world answer is because they needed to show how much of a bad guy Jabba was, to make room for Leia as his new dancing girl, and to give the audience a preview of the rancor before Luke fell in the pit. All of which were nicely accomplished by feeding Oola to it.
