OK, Why are they called the "LOST" PREDATORS in Predator 2??

Before I came to these boards I never heard of those guys at the end of Predator 2 (1990) being referred to as the "Lost" Preds.

Where does this name for them come from? Is it from these boards and is it meant to be a reference to The Lost Boys (1987) which in itself is a reference to Peter Pan?

They have been called The Lost Hunters for years now.
I think it's a name the fans gave to them, it represents the whole clan of predators from P2.

My main obsession with Predator Costuming has become the Lost Hunters. The Lost Hunters, as they are nicknamed where the Predators created for the final scene in PREDATOR 2. Created by Stan Winston and crew, and given little to no time on film. The quality of suits however is astounding dispite thier lack of film time. Rumor has it that when ask "What do we do with these suits?" Winston replied "Throw them away" and now they are Lost forever. The mystery behind each predator character amazes me and it is my latest obsession to reproduce items from these hunters whether it be specific armor pieces or Bio helmets.

Wow. Thats a cool story!!! I can't believe they just threw them away. Such a waste. You would think they would have kept them in hopes of re-using them later in a sequel or something.

If it's in a direct sequel to Pred 2, it would be great.
I would love Predator 3 instead of Avp 3 ...

Because these shops are always making things for movies. If they kept everything, they'd have no room in which to do their work. And the studios could care less, in fact, they probably prefer this stuff be destroyed so that it doesn't end up in someone elses movie.
