how long have you been collecting 12" figures?

been at it since 1995 though around 1980 i got a 12" chewbacca.

Have almost every 12" SW Hasbro item from the resurgence. Anyone else?

In 1999 my son Glenn was born. That summer myself, my wife and my newborn son were walking (Well he was in the stroller) through KayBee toys when we came across the 12" TPM Obi Wan figure.
"I'm getting this for him."
"You don't even know if he'll like Star Wars."
"Oh he'll LIKE Star Wars!"
Got pretty much every Hasbro figure and now I own about 80 SSC figures.

great story. and i bet Glenn is a huge fan now with dad's help making lots of cool stuff.

I always wanted the 12 inch figs when I was a kid but I was disappointed after the vintage Kenner Chewbacca.

I had the 12 inch V toy as a kid too.

Then I didn't buy anything until I saw the reveal Kenner Darth Vader and the Emperor in 1998 and I know I had to buy those.... Then before ROTS came out I saw the Hasbro Ultimate Villian Vader and had to buy that. I was looking for an ROTS Obi-wan which never came and then one day I head of Sideshow and the rest is OCD history. :lol

Pretty much the same here, except I stopped buying all the Hasbro dolls in 1999 and have since gotten rid of most all that I had.

Around that same time I started collecting high-end 1:6 figures, beginning with the Alfrex Samurai stuff. My first Sideshow 12" was "The Vampyre" (Nosferatu), also about 10 years ago. Wow.

I had the complete line of the first 12"ers and they were my favourite. I loved em. My parents split and my dad threw them out (along with all my other SW's stuff). :bangheadThat was 20 years ago and I started collecting SS 1/6th about two years ago. I may have to purchase some of those oldies again.

My very 1st 12" was the original Kenner Stormtrooper (gave it away in my hi school purge LOL )- not sure how I got it as my parents very sparingly bought me the original kenner small figures (which I still have)- then 1995 I got back into the smaller figures & only looked at the hasbro 12" in stores until I believe sometime after 1999 & the release of the Darth Vader/Darth Maul 2 pack which I had to have from there i bought a few of the best figs (Boba-Jango-Speeder bike) until SSC got the license. While I don't collect them all I enjoy the ones I do have approximately 15 so far.

I can't really recall the year. It all started for me when I got the Kenner Han and Luke in Stormtrooper disguise 12" figures throught a friend from Australia, when the set was first released. There was no looking back after that, I went on to collect almost all releases from that line for the next 10 years.:wacky

I started collecting in 1996 with the Hasbro 12". I thought they were awesome then but now after Sideshow they look pretty bad in comparison. There is still a warm place in my heart for the time spent trying to track down the first set of 12" exclusive TRU Tauntaun and Han, the Target Wampa and Luke, the Walmart Cantina band, Diamond Sandtrooper, JCPenney Greedo, KBtoys Luke and Han as Stormtroopers, and Service Merchandise AT-AT driver. I wasnt able to get ahold of the FAO exclusive for a 5 years after they were released but now I have them all. Thinking back that was probably my favorite time as a collector ever.

This is similar to my experience...man, I thought I was a newb:rolleyes:
My brother and I started collecting Hasbro 12 inchers since the beginning and have almost everyone...still do. Right up through ROTS. When SSC announced that they were taking over the line I jumped on board after seeing some of their other stuff...Luke was our first high end 12" figure. We have the entire SSC SW product to date...only passed on Han in Carbonite only cause we are playing the odds that we will be able to pick it up later at a cheaper price or at least be able to use the SS gift cards towards it.

From there, we've ventured into Medi and Hot Toys and Tak bats.

From a collector stand point, when SS released Frankenstein Monster. Had 1/6 toy figures thoughout growing up.

Been collecting since Adventure Team GI JOE. I love those fuzzy-headed dudes...21st Century toys in the late 90s really got me into customizing and what not. Now Its only Hot Toys and Sideshow. My Sideshow addiction started with the PLATOON figures. I've been going ever since. I don't buy everything, just what interests me...

Well, it's taller than 12" but I have the Kenner Alien. Still in the box (it's been opened but I kept him inside the whole time). It was on sale when I bought it, marked down to $8 bucks!
