So, I'm currently with Time Warner Cable. I'm not overly happy with the way the internet has been lagging lately. It seems to hit patches that it never used to.

I'm an online gamer. I love it and cannot give it up. I have been considering moving to AT&T but am unsure if their internet connection is good enough.

What do you all have, and which speed, and how does it work for you?

Is your lag playing all games, certain games? It could be the server they use or should I say lack or real sever. Is it all the time or random? Switching might be pointless if the problem is no your Internet but the server or the online system.

I have games where despite a 50meg connection down and 25 meg up where I have a crappy connection to that game.

The lag is not very often, but I have never experienced it before. It's only during Last of Us because that's what I'm playing. It doesn't happen every day and if it happens it's over with almost instantly. It's still annoying and had never happened in the past. It's a recent thing.

I'm wanting to swap to AT&T until Google Fiber is available (which is soon). I just have not liked what I've seen for their speeds.

It might all depend on who has TW in your area and peak times of internet usage.

I have AT&T, the highest possible package, with the highest possible speed. I host LAN parties where we play internet based games with 5 people and we have never had a problem with speed.

I get way faster speeds than I did with TW.

That's good to hear. I want to swap back to AT&T because I miss their u-verse stuff. We went with TWC because the complex has it mandatory so we just did our own add-ons. Now that we are moving, we want to swap back since Google doesn't arrive until next year and wont be available to everyone right away. Probably the University and major businesses, first, etc.

We're on U-Verse but if we could we'd switch to Verizon FIOS, U-Verse is way too expensive, other people pay less and get higher internet speeds and the TV is way overpriced. But there's no good alternative here. Lucky you guys get Google Fiber at some point.

We are very excited about GF and ready to pay top dollar for it.

We think that AT&T is pretty cheap. We don't have a landline but it's only $119 for their fastest web, the tv lineup and phone. I think that's a good price...no?

We're paying $200 for U200 plus Internet Max which is only 18MBPS,

But, while that would normally cost $58 + $74, there's also extra charges:
$20 fees for taxes and other random fees just to have it
$16 for HBO
$7 for each extra receiver
$10 for HD support.

JESUS that is expensive down there.

I think we are paying $150ish for the highest U-verse and highest internet plus all pay channels and 4 boxes.

Ouch I have all the premium channels, and faster internet for less than that.

I had Uverse when I lived in St. Louis and loved it. The internet was fast and it rarely lagged on games for me. I think we paid around 120 for cable and internet? Its way faster than what I am stuck with right now and thats Charter. If you can make the switch I would do it.

I'm using Time Warner Cable, and the connection is definitely iffy. My modem often goes off, because TWC either has some equipment problems or they're updating their system.

I still prefer them to AT&T though.

i used to have TWC but it's not an option in my county near Houston anymore so we switched to U-Verse.
I don't really play online anymore so i couldn't say but the service is fine and relatively cheap.... for the US

Though I'm supposed to have 'fiber optic' and I download stuff about 1.3M/s.
By comparison my friends in Paris who have fiber optics get ~10M/s and pay EUR30 for internet, TV and unlimited landline.
