2 many Gr8 Statues!!!
Hi. I think I'm going to start collecting a new comic. All I collect now is Spawn. If you tell me your opinions about some current comics, some of which you may happen to collect, it might help me and I'd appreciate it.

I am really leaning toward Wolverine because he is so cool. I bought a couple of Batman comics today. The artwork is kinda lame, at least compared to Spawn.

Thanks.

If you like Spawn, then you probably wouldn't like what I like. But I like any early Stan Lee stuff, particularly with Kirby and Ditko, John Byrne's Fantastic Four Run, and the Claremont/Byrne X-Men run. That should be enough to get you started.

Thank you for your opinion. I'm going to just start a current comic though. lol, And part of the reason for this is just so I can get attached and buy some more cool statues. God help me!!! No but seriously, it should be fun.

Looking for a less kiddy book then the current Batmans I'm reading, 707-711. Spawn is dark and gritty. Cursing and stuff. Anyone collect Wolverine that could tell me a bit about the comic?

Brubaker's Captain America run is awesome too.

Why do you like it? And what's up with Captain America. Isn't that kind of a lame name and costume. No offense. In the movie though it actually looks cool. I'm not gay (and not that there is anything wrong with that) but damn the guy that plays Captain America in the movie is super insanely jacked.

What's Captain America? A guy with a shield he throws? No offense, I'm ignorant.

I'll just tell you. Spawn 200 was not too good. McFarlane did it all himself. He left after that and gave Spawn to a few new artists and writers and since 200 Spawn has been really good. imho Currently up to 208

I think I know exactly where you're coming from. I recommend New Avengers 2005-2010. It has all the modern superheroes together like Wolverine, Spiderman, Ironman, etc... as a new comer you'll get to learn about the important Marvel Superheroes and villains and see how all the Marvel universe connect with each other.. Make sure you start with the 2005 series so you can read it from the beginning til the end, PM me if you want to buy the books, I have all the trade paper back I'm thinking of passing them along..

New Avengers has been great, one of my subscriptions. There are some other pretty strong titles from recent years like Captain America, Thor, and Thunderbolts. If you want one gritty TPB to check out, go look at Thor: Ages of Thunder.

If you like the gritty violence and are interested in Wolverine, check out the current "Wolverine - the best there is" series. Pretty warped stuff, and really nice artwork by Ryp.

Best Wolvie story I ever read is still the original Claremont/Miller mini-series.

I just got back from the comic store. I'll chose to read 3 new comics. After a long long time looking I picked Spiderman, the New Avengers, and Batman: Detective Comics. inmo, Spiderman's artwork is unbelievable, I really like it. The New Avengers is pretty alright and Batman is pretty good.

I have a question about The New Avengers. I thought they started in 2005 but they are only up to comic like 14. You think The New Avengers is better than X-Men? I mean what's the difference, they are both groups of mutants, right? Why one comic over the other?

Batman Hush is good.

But read Planet Hulk and then World War Hulk, then you'll know who's the strongest there is. Most enjoyable read I've ever read.

New Avengers started numbering with issue #1 again after the Siege story arc ended and Heroes Reborn started. The issues before the number reset are awesome. The New Avengers are a random group of heroes, not a mutant team exclusively.

It started in 05, right? What number did they get up to?
