I dont see a big deal either its Amazing and Add's to the story or it bomb's and we forgot ALL about it. I'm stoked to see more of to a prequel story not enough good horror around hard being a horror fan. I'm some what excited for some good horror film's on horizon from REvisiting Nightmare on elm street with Robert England being Fred again supposedly internet heresay. To Prometheus sequels leading up to Alien and The Conjuring 2. We just need to bring back MYERS , JASON And CReep Show and more Classic horror icons if do it correctly. Oh and cant foget about Evil Dead coming back wich look's very good along with Hellraiser that scarred me damn good ha ha...Anyway cant wait for more good horror.

It won't effect the original of course. I just hate that these studios need to go out of their way to try and answer everything for the viewer (for no other reason than a cash grab) God forbid we can draw our own theories.

True Snake ^^^ but does have a good following and since hotel Overlook is real except the maze leave's it open for possibilty's. Hollywood has hard time coming up with real original's everything i hear is sequels , prequels now nothing really new. I think since Disney decided to get Star wars other's find themselve's going back looking for more. I welcome some i 've been waiting for like a Last star fighter remake to a GOONIES 2 to fixing Nightmare n Friday the 13th and redoing Hellraiser with more special effects to another Gremlins. So much great film's we had without all the CGI we have today. Those movie's did a AMAZING JOB with what they have i just Hate the Casting Agent's choice's that destroy most and lack to do a good story sometime's. Ghostbusters is it's latest victim what could have been greatness to EPIC FAIL. I dont want to start that argument we all know , just a example of what could go wrong like last Terminator. Casting must be correct along with story. If they brought all original cast for Terminator i would've been stoked but no just IMO i can barely watch it, sorry Arnie. Anyway lets hope n prey they ALL get done correctly.

Of course it won't affect the original but there'll still be people who'll claim it destroys the original. Personally I think i'll be interesting and even if it isn't great it will still be another chapter in the story. I really wouldn't mind them adapting other Stephen King works such as the prequel to Salem's Lot.

I'm just pessimistic to the idea of any prequel/sequel/remake to an old film anymore since 95% of them are handled so horribly.

And yeah, Terminator ate bawz. Go China!

:exactly: Well said that man. A large part of the brilliance of (the movie version of) The Shining is that not everything about the history of the hotel and the horrors that previously unfurled there is revealed and what snippets we do get don't necessarily fit together in a way that makes perfect sense. These days it almost seems like the studio's believe everyone's heads will spontaneously explode, Scanners style, if a single audience member remains out of the loop or is left to ponder pieces of a puzzle long after a movie has finished.

Agreed that this is unnecessary, but it won't really effect The Shining. But why can't we just leave these things alone? Let the Overlook be mysterious.

These days it almost seems like the studio's believe everyone's heads will spontaneously explode, Scanners style, if a single audience member remains out of the loop or is left to ponder pieces of a puzzle long after a movie has finished.

This is 100% accurate. :ohbfrank:
