does anyone think this option is worth it? $8 extra just to make sure the collector box arrives like it's supposed to. excessive? padme cost over $18 to ship. :google :google :google

if you calculate returns and freight charges from shipping damage, shouldn't ss want this figure to arrive unscathed the first time? a little extra bubble wrap should be extended to all.

No offense intended, but I think the $8 is to discourage the ******** retentives from getting too ********. And the boxes come packed from the factory, so to add the extra padding they have to spend a lot more time with each package.

Padme already ships in 2 boxes and most of the other SW figures ship with styrofoam at the corners to protect the art box.

no offense taken. after a couple of nice color collector boxes crushed, i opted for the pack out. figured it would save the headache of a return, which would be costly to ss after their return postage and tying up customer service. i did receive a 1/6 with the corner styrofoam before opting to pack out and even though the brown box had some severe damage the collector box was perfect. i wonder why they don't pack all their 1/6 like that.

Because it's only the SW fans that are so rectally retentive.

i don't consider myself a sw fan above all. i just don't want a crushed collector box because it makes the item worth less. i can't see anyone gladly paying full price for a damaged anything. that's why there's scratch and dent sales. :D

I prefer my boxes to be minty fresh as well, but I am not going to complain too much if there are small dings or corners with problems. When my Anakin came in, the whole box had a huge crease and crushed area in the middle, so Sideshow sent me a new box. They packed it flat inside of a flat shipping box and when it arrived, the whole thing had been folded in half (or looked like it had), so of course, the new display box had a huge crease going all the way through it, so they just had me return the Original figure and box and replaced the whole thing. This was an extreme case and I've never had any other figure replaced because of the display box, but I can understand when someone does. To me, the box is part of the collectible, otherwise, why not just put it in a plain white box with the figure name printed on it and save on all the design, production and ink costs?

I like the display boxes too, and if I'd ever gotten one with major damage I'd complain too.

But the fact is they didn't start making efforts toward protecting the art box until the SW fans really started complaining about every little fold and ding.

Not that there's anything wrong with that...:maul

Do you open any of your figures Tylerd?

yes i do. but unfortunately i have space restrictions so not nearly as many as i'd like. so i try to rotate but sometimes i lose interest in the subject or line before i get the chance to open.
